About two months ago I had a rather unpleasant situation with my skin, I started getting several acne breakouts on both my face and neck. At first, I attributed it to a new facial cleanser I was trying out, however, this week I realised that I was wrong and that my favourite styling cream was the culprit. Honestly, it was something I'd been noticing for a while, but as the breakouts always coincided with the trial period of a product, I attributed it to that, but I've realised I was wrong.

Last weekend I ran out (finally) of a styling cream I was trying out and had to use my backup styling cream, the favourite, the miracle one, the one I use every time I need my hair to look better than ever. Two days of use was enough for my skin to react negatively, and those unwanted acne breakouts started to appear. This time there was no other new product or hormones involved, so it couldn't be anything else.
I don't know what made the situation change in this way, it is a product that I have been using for a very long time, and it has never caused me a negative reaction, on the contrary, I have always been happy with the results I have obtained with it, until now. Although I don't really think the cream has changed anything, as I still get excellent results with my hair, the problem is that my skin has simply stopped tolerating it. This situation has put me at a crossroads where I have to choose between my skin being acne free or my hair having that perfect wavy look I like so much.
Even though I've spent a lot of time taking care of my hair and I love the way it looks when I use this product, I have to prioritise the health of my skin. Having healthy, beautiful hair is also important, but for me, keeping my skin healthy and clean is even more important, as an acne breakout can easily get out of control and lead to other issues, such as infections or blemishes.
Taking this into account, the choice was more than clear, with all the pain in my heart, the styling cream has to go. I'd rather find a way to make any other hair product work than have to deal with unwanted acne breakouts, plus I don't know at what point the cream might cause an even worse reaction.
It's certainly a situation that has given me pause for thought, because while I've thrown out products that have caused allergic reactions, I've never had to do so with one that I've used before and that worked really well for me. However, thinking back, I have used another product from the same brand before, and it caused the same reaction as this one, so perhaps I have developed some kind of intolerance to an ingredient in Johnson's products.
I don't know for sure how it has changed my skin, but this product is definitely not for me any more. Luckily, as it is a children's product, my son can use it, I just have to be careful when applying it and wash my hands after to avoid any inconvenience. I will now have to look for another reliable product to replace this one as my go-to styling cream, so suggestions are welcome.
Skincare vs. Haircare. ¿Qué es más importante?
Hace aproximadamente dos meses tuve una situación bastante desagradable con mi piel, comenzaron aparecerme varios brotes de acné tanto en la cara como en el cuello. Al principio se lo atribuí a un nuevo limpiador facial que estaba probando, sin embargo, esta semana me he dado cuenta de que estaba equivocada y que la culpable es mi crema para peinar favorita. Honestamente, era algo que venía notando desde hace tiempo, pero como siempre los brotes coincidían con el periodo de prueba de un producto, se lo atribuía a ese, pero me he dado cuenta de que estaba equivocada.
El fin de semana pasado se terminó (por fin) una crema para peinar que estaba probando y tuve que usar mi crema para peinar de reserva, la favorita, la milagrosa, esa que utilizo cada vez que necesito que mi cabello se vea mejor que nunca. Dos días de uso bastaron para que mi piel reaccionara negativamente y comenzaran a aparecer esos indeseables brotes de acné. Esta vez no había ningún otro producto nuevo, ni hormonas de por medio, así que no podía ser ninguna otra cosa.
No sé qué hizo que la situación cambiara de esta forma, es un producto que he empleado durante muchísimo tiempo y que jamás me había ocasionado una reacción negativa, al contrario, siempre estuve feliz con los resultados que obtenía con ella, hasta ahora. Aunque la verdad no creo que la crema haya cambiado en nada, ya que con mi cabello sigo obteniendo excelentes resultado, el problema es que mi piel simplemente ha dejado de tolerarla. Esta situación me ha puesto en una encrucijada en la que debo elegir qué prefiero, que mi piel esté libre de acné o que mi cabello luzca ese ondulado perfecto que tanto me gusta.
A pesar de que he dedicado muchísimo tiempo al cuidado de mi cabello y de que me encanta el aspecto que tiene cuando uso ese producto, debo darle prioridad a la salud de mi piel. Tener un cabello saludable y bonito también es importante, pero para mí mantener una piel sana y limpia lo es mucho más, ya que un brote de acné puede salirse de control fácilmente y ocasionar otros problemas, como infecciones o manchas.
Tomando esto en cuenta, la elección era más que clara, con todo el dolor de mi corazón, la crema para peinar se tiene que ir. Prefiero buscar la manera de hacer funcionar cualquier otro producto para el cabello, a tener que seguir lidiando con unos indeseables brotes de acné, además de que no sé en qué momento la crema puede ocasionarme una reacción aún peor.
Sin duda es una situación que me ha hecho reflexionar bastante, ya que si bien ya he desechado productos porque me han causado reacciones alérgicas, nunca me había tocado hacerlo con uno que hubiera usado con anterioridad y que me funcionaba realmente bien. No obstante, haciendo memoria, ya había utilizado otro producto de la misma marca y me ocasionó la misma reacción que este, así que quizás he desarrollado algún tipo intolerancia a un ingrediente de los productos Johnson.
No sé a ciencia cierta en qué ha cambiado mi piel, pero definitivamente este producto ya no es para mí. Por suerte, al ser un producto infantil, mi hijo puede hacer uso de él, solo debo tener cuidado al aplicarlo y lavar mis manos después de hacerlo, para evitar cualquier inconveniente. Ahora tocará buscar otro producto confiable para que sustituya a este como mi crema para peinar de cabecera, así que se aceptan sugerencias.
