Hello, Hive family!
Today was an exciting day for me because we finally started making our very own coconut oil! It was a group effort, filled with laughter, teamwork, and unexpected challenges. We thought the process would be smooth and easy, but let me tell you—coconuts are not to be underestimated
We started with high spirits, eager to crack open the coconuts and extract their rich, creamy goodness. But as soon as we picked up the first coconut and attempted to break it, we realized we were in for a serious workout! The shells were bigger, harder, and much more stubborn than we had expected.
At first, we tried the simple approach—hitting the shell with a knife or a small hammer. That didn’t work. Then, we attempted the “drop it hard on the floor” method. That also didn’t work as well as we hoped. The coconuts were just too tough! It felt like they were challenging us to prove our strength and determination.
After several tries (and a lot of laughter at our failed attempts), we found a better technique. We focused on hitting the coconut against each other, and slowly but surely, they began to crack open. Some of us developed our own unique styles—one person held the coconut steady while another delivered precise hits, while others preferred to just smash it with full force. Whatever worked, we did it!
The moment we finally cracked them open, there was this huge feeling of satisfaction. Victory at last! And the best part? The sweet, refreshing coconut water inside, which we happily sipped before continuing with the process.
Once the coconuts were open, it was time for the next step—removing the coconut flesh. If you thought cracking the shell was hard, this was another challenge on its own! The flesh clung tightly to the shell, making it difficult to scrape out. We had to use knives, spoons, and even our fingers to loosen it.
Little by little, we made progress, collecting all the creamy white coconut meat into a large bowl. We couldn’t resist tasting some of it—it was fresh, crunchy, and full of flavor. Some of us started imagining all the things we could make with it—coconut snacks, coconut milk, and of course, our final product—coconut oil!
And later the coconut was grinded and now we have to wait.
Now, We Wait…
After all the hard work of cracking, scooping, and preparing the coconuts, we finally set everything up for the extraction process. The mixture is now resting, and by tomorrow, we should have pure, homemade coconut oil ready to use!
We can’t wait to see the final result and share it with you all. It’s been such a fun and rewarding experience, and we’re already planning to do it again. Have you ever tried making coconut oil at home? If so, what challenges did you face? Let us know in the comments!
Stay tuned for the next update when we reveal our finished product!
