A collection of my poetry on HIVE.
Each is a little snapshot of my life, and when I read them, I remember how I felt at the time. It all comes back to me better than a photograph. I never wrote poetry at all until I was on HIVE - everyone here has given me the confidence to play and be creative in this way, and I really enjoy it when the muse hits.
I'd really love feedback on any of these poems. Compliments are one thing, but constructive feedback helps me be better. I think my favourite is 'Flight Path: On Leaving India' - actually, it's hard to choose as they're all my babies. It's kinda cool to revisit them!
Poetry In Lockdown: Somerset 2020
Leaving India as the pandemic hit - within two days we'd be locked down in the UK. This is one of my favourite poems.

One written just as the pandemic hit. I'd left India and brought the goddess Kali with me - an entirely appropriate goddess for a pandemic.

We were staying on a dutch barge on the River Avon Canal. The riverfolk got me all nostaglic and full of wanderlust.
Another rhyming poem about the English woods and their ancient vibe.

Poems about Australia and Environmental Issues
This one's about what happens when you spend too much time with technology. It's hard to see the world as it is - there are layers and layers of culture written on the viewed landscape.

A poem about rewilding, and what we've lost by moving away from nature.
@riverflows/once-we-walked-amongst-the-wild-things
Rejoicing in all the life around us, whilst worrying about environmental concerns.

Considering neural links as a technology to heal us.
@riverflows/restoration-poetry
Written after the funeral of a friend we'd lost to cervical cancer.
A bit of a silly poem where I write about going against the rules
