¡Saludos, gente! Tiempo sin escribir por esta comunidad, pero hoy solo quería desahogarme un poco en mi blog sobre algunas cosas.
Hoy fue mi reinicio de actividades del 2025 en el hospital donde trabajo y quiero describirles un poco como me siento, es una mezcla de agotamiento, frustración y tristeza extrema.
De verdad tenía muchas esperanzas de que todo este año fuera completamente diferente para todos, incluyendo, por supuesto, el sector salud de este país, que muchos por aquí sabemos que ha sido uno de los más golpeados por la tiranía que nos gobierna.
Pero, tristemente, la realidad para este punto terminó siendo la misma que los años anteriores, así que volví a escuchar las tristes historias de mis pacientes cuyos salarios y pensiones no les alcanza ni para realizarse un esquema de exámenes básicos y mucho menos para adquirir sus medicamentos.
Es increíble, pero solo vi 10 pacientes, no tenía por qué haber acabado tan agotada, pero trabajando en el sector público de este país, entendí que muchas veces el escucharlos y el hablar con ellos un rato, aun cuando no tengan para completar los perfiles clínicos de exámenes o tratamiento, los hace sentir un poco mejor, al menos a algunos, así que siempre lo intento.
Greetings, people! Long time no write for this community, but today I just wanted to vent a little on my blog about some things, so, here doing a catharsis.
Today was my 2025 restart at the hospital where I work and I want to describe to you a little bit how I feel, it's a mix of exhaustion and extreme sadness.
I really had high hopes that this year would be completely different for everyone, including, of course, the health sector of this country, which many of us here know has been one of the hardest hit by the tyranny that governs us.
But, sadly, the reality for this point ended up being the same as the previous years, so I heard again the sad stories of my patients whose salaries and pensions are not even enough for them to have basic tests and much less to buy their medicines.
It is incredible, but I only saw 10 patients, I should not have ended up so exhausted, but working in the public sector of this country, I understood that many times listening to them and talking to them for a while, even if they do not have to complete the clinical profiles of tests or treatment, makes them feel a little better, at least some of them, so I always try.
Sin embargo, hacer el trabajo a medias o, incluso, una octava parte de lo que debería, lejos de hacerme sentir bien, lo que me deja es un gran sentimiento de frustración, porque yo estudié para aplicar la medicina convencional, la que te permite diagnosticar y tratar pacientes apoyándonos en pruebas, estudios de imágenes, exámenes de laboratorio, etc., que certifiquen el diagnóstico, todo eso es algo que debe realizarse, no solo es evaluar al paciente porque no trabajamos a través de magia, ni otras paraciencias.
Si bien el examen físico es importante y el interrogatorio clínico lo es más, gran parte de las veces, lamentablemente, no es suficiente y, sobre todo en este país, no queremos hacer que hagan gastos innecesarios, pero para evitarlos, debemos asegurar las impresiones diagnósticas, lo cual se logra con esos exámenes básicos que la mayoría de los pacientes no tienen para costear.
No solo eso, es la cantidad de personas que han debido dejar progresar enfermedades crónicas por la dificultad para comprar sus tratamientos completos, muchos de ellos se empeoran en esa espera por tener los recursos para adquirir todo lo que necesitan y, muchos de ellos, no lo logran.
Por otro lado, está la situación nutricional de gran parte de ellos, muchos no tienen para cumplir una alimentación balanceada, no tienen siquiera los servicios básicos de forma permanente en sus hogares, como el agua o el gas, lo cual genera predisposición para el desarrollo de más enfermedades.
However, doing the job half done or even an eighth of what it should be, far from making me feel good, what it leaves me with is a great feeling of frustration, because I studied to apply conventional medicine, which allows you to diagnose and treat patients based on tests, imaging studies, laboratory tests, etc., that certify the diagnosis, all this is something that must be done, it is not only evaluating the patient because we do not work through magic, or other paraciencias.
Although the physical examination is important and the clinical interrogation is even more so, most of the time, unfortunately, it is not enough and, especially in this country, we do not want to make them make unnecessary expenses, but to avoid them, we must ensure the diagnostic impressions, which is achieved with those basic tests that most patients do not have to afford.
Not only that, is the number of people who have had to let chronic diseases progress because of the difficulty to buy their complete treatments, many of them get worse in that wait to have the resources to acquire everything they need and, many of them, do not make it.
On the other hand, there is the nutritional situation of most of them, many of them do not have a balanced diet, they do not even have basic services permanently in their homes, such as water or gas, which generates a predisposition to the development of more diseases.
La situación emocional de todos es lo más preocupante, muchos se sienten completamente desesperanzados con respecto la situación país, por los nuevos familiares que van a emigrar, extrañan a los que ya están afuera, la inflación que cada día los asfixia más y por no poder encontrar ninguna luz al final del túnel, todo esto termina llevándolos a un estado mental del que muchas veces es imposible salir.
A todo eso, súmenle las situaciones personales de cada uno de los trabajadores de estas instituciones de salud, que deben verse obligados a intentar manejar todo esto que les digo y ven a diario, en conjunto con sus propios problemas personales y sin ningún tipo de motivación, porque el salario no les alcanza para absolutamente nada.
A muchos se les olvida, pero el sector salud es uno igual a cualquiera de los otros sectores del país, formado por trabajadores que deben costear servicios, comprar alimentos, medicamentos, resolver problemas, tienen familia, también se enferman, tienen necesidades de todo tipo, y necesitan un sueldo que les permita suplir todo eso.
Ojalá todo eso pudiera costearse con "vocación", como muchos lo creen, pero lamentablemente no es así, porque para todo eso se necesita una adecuada remuneración, como en cualquier profesión.
Por mucho que quieran ayudar al resto, si no se tienen las necesidades básicas cubiertas y la seguridad que ameritan, mientras llevan a cabo su trabajo, lamentablemente no pueden hacerlo con la misma disponibilidad que deberían y, no amigos, ninguna de esas personas estudió para trabajar en una situación como la que vivimos de extrema escasez, nivel estado de guerra.
The emotional situation of everyone is the most worrying thing, many feel completely hopeless about the country's situation, about the new family members who are going to emigrate, they miss those who are already abroad, the inflation that is suffocating them more and more every day and not being able to find any light at the end of the tunnel, all of this ends up leading them to a mental state from which it is often impossible to get out.
To all this, add the personal situations of each one of the workers of these health institutions, who must be forced to try to manage all this that I tell you and see daily, together with their own personal problems and without any kind of motivation, because their salary is not enough for absolutely nothing.
Many people forget, but the health sector is the same as any other sector in the country, made up of workers who must pay for services, buy food, medicines, solve problems, they have families, they also get sick, they have needs of all kinds, and they need a salary that allows them to make up for all that.
If only all this could be paid with "vocation", as many believe, but unfortunately it is not so, because for all this, adequate remuneration is needed, as in any profession.
Because of all this, my friends, I left yesterday really sad and above all mentally exhausted from the consultation, even though I had 3 months of vacation (forced by health issues, it must be emphasized). It is difficult and it is a situation that we do not know how much longer we will be able to handle.
No sé si están al tanto, pero el personal de salud para trabajar en estas situaciones está en la Cruz Roja Internacional, la OMS, en Médicos Sin Fronteras, y en otras ONG que se preparan específicamente para estar en situaciones de extrema pobreza y escasez severa de recursos, es un personal muy capacitado con una preparación mental y física única que, definitivamente, no tenemos la mayoría del personal de los hospitales de este país.
Y ¡No! Esa mayoría no "escogieron eso", no decidieron dedicarse a esta área para trabajar en este tipo de situaciones, porque si así hubiera sido, estarían en una guerra en el Medio Oriente, en Ucrania, en Rusia, en zonas de desastres naturales, etc., así de sencillo y no es el caso.
Te preparas en una universidad tradicional venezolana para trabajar en un centro de salud que, se supone, debe proporcionarte todos los recursos para tu ejercer tu profesión de una forma adecuada a los requerimientos, te preparas para ayudar y para cumplir tu trabajo, pero en un ambiente laboral que te proporcione lo necesario para realizarlo.
Por todo esto que les cuento, es que ayer salí realmente triste, sobre todo agotada mentalmente de la consulta y eso que tenía 3 meses de vacaciones (obligada por cuestiones de salud, cabe recalcar). Es difícil y es una situación que no sabemos cuanto tiempo más vamos a poder manejar.

The health personnel to work in these situations are in the International Red Cross, WHO, Doctors Without Borders, and other NGOs that are specifically prepared to be in situations of extreme poverty and severe shortage of resources, it is a highly trained staff with a unique mental and physical preparation that we definitely do not have most of the staff of the hospitals in this country.
And no! That majority did not "choose that", none of them decided to dedicate themselves to this area to work in this type of situation, because if they had, they would be in a war in the Middle East, in Ukraine, in Russia, in areas of natural disasters, etc., as simple as that and this is not the case.
You prepare yourself in a traditional Venezuelan university to work in a health center that is supposed to provide you with all the resources you need to practice your profession in a way that meets the requirements. You prepare yourself to help and to do your job, but in a work environment that provides you with what you need to do it.
Particularmente yo no quiero abandonar a mis pacientes en el área pública porque sé que me necesitan, pero lamentablemente, siento que tarde o temprano tendré que hacerlo, como lo han hecho muchos de mis compañeros. La necesidad de tomar el antimigrañoso aparece nuevamente al salir y el dolor dura días. No sé realmente por cuanto tiempo pueda soportar no priorizar mi salud por sobre la de los demás.
Les dejo esto como reflexión, muchos pueden evadir esta cruel realidad porque no siempre van a centros de salud; sin embargo, cuando van sienten que viven un infierno que no quisieran pisar nunca más; pues les cuento que lamentablemente ese infierno lo estamos viviendo muchos a diario desde hace casi 26 años, no siempre visto a través de nosotros, la mayoría de las veces es en los ojos de otros más y, aun así, contra los maltratos, las amenazas, la indignación y la frustración, nos hemos quedado para seguir luchando por esos otros ojos.
Así que los invito a todos a recapacitar, a luchar por sus derechos y a señalar a los verdaderos culpables de todo este desastre, no recargar la culpa sobre los demás que solo intentan ayudar bajo condiciones deplorables, abran los ojos y vean quienes iniciaron toda esta serie de eventos desafortunados que nos llevaron a la actualidad.
De nada sirve tener edificaciones nuevas, si no tenemos recursos, ni personal para trabajar, de nada nos sirve diagnosticar si el paciente no tiene el poder adquisitivo para adquirir los tratamientos, de nada nos sirve prevenir si no tienen servicios básicos en su hogar, de nada nos sirve controlar enfermedades cuando todo el país se viene abajo, las familias se destruyen y la salud mental cada vez decae más.
El trabajo debe ser de todos, porque el sector salud público es para atenderlos a todos, no esperen que el día de mañana necesiten estar en un hospital para buscar que se cumplan sus derechos y darse cuenta de la situación de precariedad.
Cerciórense ustedes mismos, vayan y vean el excesivo trabajo que ahí se cumple, la poca cantidad de personal que queda agotado de las extenuantes jornadas de trabajo, la escasez severa de recursos y el terrible trato hacia ellos, todos son humanos ahí, todos sienten y padecen, así que vean a quienes culpan de todos y entiendan que todos debemos luchar por igual.
Ahora sí me despido, ya me desahogue, disculpen si les incomodé y, para los pocos que llegaron hasta aquí, gracias por pasar y leerme.
I don't particularly want to abandon my patients in the public area because I know they need me, but unfortunately, I feel that sooner or later I will have to do so, as many of my colleagues have done. The need to take the antimigraine medication appears again when I leave and I don't know how long I can stand not prioritizing my health over that of others.
I leave this as a reflection, many can evade this cruel reality because they do not always go to health centers; however, when they go they feel that they are living a hell that they would never want to step on again; well, I tell you that unfortunately we are living this hell daily for almost 26 years, not always seen through us, most of the time it is in the eyes of others, so I invite you all to reconsider, to fight for your rights and to point out the real culprits of this whole disaster, not to put the blame on others, who are only trying to help.
It is useless to have new buildings if we do not have resources or personnel to work, it is useless to diagnose if the patient does not have the purchasing power to acquire the treatments, it is useless to prevent if they do not have basic services at home, it is useless to control diseases when the whole country is falling apart, families are destroyed and mental health is increasingly declining.
Do not expect that tomorrow you will need to be in a hospital to seek the fulfillment of your rights and realize the precarious situation, see for yourselves, go and see the excessive work that is done there, the small number of staff that remains, the severe shortage of resources and the terrible treatment of the staff, see who they blame for everything and on whom they pour all their rage.
