In the seemingly never ending, but actually rather short journey of life the average human gets annoyed about something about three times a day. That's a crazy stat if I say so. But then it's quite believable. We all have a couple things that irk us, and make us get annoyed and probably even angry when taken to the extreme. The pet peeve. Pet peeves can be anything. Even things that people consider normal can be seen as pet peeves by some other people.
I'm not someone who gets annoyed easily, but then there are one or two things that get me irked and make me annoyed.
First one is walking too slow. I am someone who is always on the go, and a lot of the time I find myself walking. It just gets me annoyed when I'm walking with someone and they're walking like they don't ever plan on getting to their destination. The worst is if they're on the path and refuse to shift for you to pass.
Back in secondary school days, I had this friend who was fond of walking super slow. I had to keep telling him to walk faster each time and it was annoying. Eventually though, my other friend made fun of him for it and he improved (talk about peer pressure 😂). I'm not saying you should be running everywhere, but at least walk smart and fast, not like you're doing a beauty pageant. Unless we actually don't have anywhere to go though (that's an exception).
Another pet peeve of mine is being so loud all the time. Like why must you shout everything? I enjoy being mysterious and having someone around me who's just going to be shouting or blabbing everything kills that. It makes me seriously angry. There's a time to be loud and a time to observe.
This next one is somewhat affiliated to the previous pet peeve. And that is watching someone else try to fit into and be at the center of the conversation by force. It irks the shit out of me when I'm a part of the convo, and when I'm not a part I get second hand embarrassment for the person. Like just listen in, or start your own. But no, you decide to be a part of this one by all means. Most times I silently leave the conversation when I see it happen.
Last but definitely not the least is none other than chewing too loudly. I find it super disgusting hearing someone grind their food and mix it with saliva. I get some people can't help it, but it doesn't stop it from being any less annoying and disgusting to me. It could even make me lose my appetite.
In the end, most times when I get annoyed by some of these things I try to stay calm and not lose it, and though hard, I often overcome. I do try to distance myself from people who do these things so I don't find myself getting annoyed all the time.
And there you go, my pet peeves. What are yours? I'd like to know.
