We all have dishes peculiar to our diverse cultures. What prominent dish in your culture do you dislike or don't enjoy and why. NOTE that it has to be food from your culture/tribe and not someone else's.
Cocoyam or locally called Ede in my dilate is a prominent dish in my culture. It has different species which is Ede ji, Ede anunu,Ede ofe, Ede akwa okuku, etc. So, it means their is species's for soup, the one you can roast like yam, the one made to be pownd and eat like Eba and many others. When i was a kid, mom normally cook Ede-coco India for us. Hahahaha, don't mind me ooo, na the name wey i born to see. This species's is usually slippery. Back then, wbe eat it with palm oil once boiled. I don't have a choice then, so i do force myself to eat it with my siblings.
The one in my pictures here is Ede-akwa okuku which means cocoyam that looks like egg yoke. The reason behind this name is that, once you pill the back of the cocoyam, the inside looks like egg yoke. Very golden in color and that's why it was named so. This particular cocoyam is exactly like yam after cooking. My mom then do mix it up with fufu or Eba. She pounds both together and we it with soup. As an adult, i don't eat them. Reason why i don't like the big cocoyam is that, no matter how long you bioled it, it will definitely disturb me. I will keep on having itching im my anus hehe. My body is allergic to it.

This species of cocoyam could be eaten with palm oil and salt or pound and enjoy as swallo with soup

Ede coco-India well planted in the garden
Glad am in the village during the time of this contest. Honestly i can't remember the last time i eate Ede. This coco-India tastes nice with well prepared palm oil. But am not still fund of it. I only ate them during my childhood due to lack of food. But now i can take care of myself very well. So, coco yam of any kind specie's doesn't move me. The one made for cooking, once eating causes throat itching.
Because of all these reactions from cocoyam, i don't just like eating it because i don't know the one that will cause reactions on my body. Already am allergic to it and because of that i don't enjoy cocoyam. I can plant or cultivate for those who wants to eat it not for myself. I can't forget in a hurry what cocoyam did to me when i was young. While i was crying that i wont eat the pounded cocoyam, mom mixed it up with Eba and forced me to eat it, throughout the night i couldn't sleep. I had severe itching in my anus and whole body. From that moment hence fourth, i dislike cocoyam. It doesn't stop me from helping my parents during farming season. I do cultivate it with my family members. Though i don't eat it.
