Always hoping for a better Nigeria and not doing anything, shows our negligence towards our mother land. The government can't do all for it citizens, though they have a major role to play in the development of the country, but as a patriotic citizen who truly love his or her country should also contribute in his or her little way starting from their community before extending it as their strength can carry.
There are so many aspects we can contribute to make the country/ Individual communities better and one of which is the educational sector. It displease me when I see how the educational sector is gradually fading away, youths and children no longer have interest to go to school. To tell you how bad it is was about seven months back, I heard children of about 10-12 years discussing among themselves they no longer have interest of school and that their parents were only forcing them. One of them added that "last last na yahoo we go do take make money" in his own language. It was kind of funny Sha when I heard it but reaching home reflecting on what those kids said I became sad. I could literally remember how back in the good old days education was a must do affair in order to succeed in life. I remembered when my elder brother was also waiting for his own admission letter, 💌 he almost turned into a mad man going from one lecturers office to another submitting his document to gain admission which eventually became a success. And now same education is seen as trash.
I also noticed same negligence from my two younger siblings age 10 and 14 respectively how their love for education is gradually waxing cold same with the children in my community. I thought of so many ways on how to help in my own little way till I came up with a good idea.💡 one afternoon I was inside taking a nap and the constant noise of the children distracted my sleep, in my angry mood i went out to stop them from making such noise but seeing them in their numbers only encouraged me to execute my plans. I called them together and asked a simple question like what is a noun? But only few could reply back with an answer. So I thought of putting a price tag (cash) because children loves money. gave them some homework and instructed them to all gather at my house after the close of school the next day and whoever gets the answers currently wins the money you needed to see the smile on their faces and to my amusement they came the following day in their numbers to give me my answers.
They was how I got their attention and from that day till now I found myself taking them home lessons for free. At some point I wanted to end the lesson but seeing how parents of those children kept thanking me about the improvement of their wards, encouraged me the more and I believe so much that these children are the hope for a better tomorrow. Not just that, it is the least I can do to help my community till am financially capable to organize an outreach for the less privileged as well. Seeing how people struggles to eat just a square meal and have nice clothes on, leaves me with so much pain and I pray one day I find my self in a good financial position to execute this plan.
There are so many little ways we can help our country/ community grow, and this is my own contribution to my society cause i wish above all that we may prosper and there is still hope for the Nigeria education.
this is my respond to the weekly prompt, what are you doing that you think is benefiting your community or city or country in general?.
Thank you for your time, peace 🕊️
