Now I'm not married but I receive a lot of instructions about marriage and how marriage should be, I know that unity and teamwork is important for marriages to thrive. So when couples have financial issues or goals, they decide on the best way to achieve it, mostly having a joint account has been the decision for many, and with good reasons!
For me I think that a joint account is good for savings, if the couple wants to save for a particular goal they want to achieve they can have a joint account while still having their individual accounts then if there's real unity between them they'll be contributing to that special account to achieve their common goal of their family.
I once lived in a family where the husband and wife had a joint account, I think their goal was to save money to build a house and to pay for their children's High school fees. But the husband was complaining that the wife doesn't contribute to that account.
"When she gets her money, it is HER money, but when I get mine, it is OUR money," The husband's words!
The wife on the other hand had her own complains too. She said that the husband always sends money from the joint account to his family members and this was a problem.
I think that the problem in this family was that there was no real unity, they couple lacked teamwork and they didn't reason with each other, that's why there was problems.
So if a couple are the type that understands and there's no deceit in either of them, that's when the idea of joint account will work.
So I think it is safe to have a joint account if the couple are a good team, and the husband who is the head of the family can decide on a certain amount that the both of them will be contributing either weekly or monthly z he should do this with all reasonableness understanding the amount his wife makes in a month, if they both agree, then this will work.
Having a joint account is a decision that is left for each couple to decide, they already know each other so they know what will work for them.
