I'm not feeling my best at the moment, and I don't understand how anyone in Nigeria will. Because, tell me why we always wake up to sad news each and every day. If it is not k!llings, it will be k!dnapp!ngs, and if it's not that, then it will be one sad news or the other. Families are now left to cry and wallow in sadness, bl@@ each and every day. Not even a god news in a day.
Most painful and heartbreaking part is, it is becoming normal, let me just say, it has become normal. We've gotten so used to it that it's no longer news. The moment it happens we talk and all, and in just few hours we've switched to doing other things and act like nothing is happening.
Now, the question is, Until when will this continue, until when are we as a citizen continue to allow this?
The few states or places we do claim to be safe are no longer safe, terrible news is what's flooding our Internet spaces, snd we thought we had a government. Obviously, we don't. The first assignment of a government is to protect the lives and properties of her citizens. Any government that fails at that is a failed government.
We can no longer travel, traveling is even big, we can no longer go to places of worship, schools, markets and all. We are not dafe in our streets or even in our houses. We can no longer sleep peacefully and .... It's just too heartbreaking and heart wrenching.
A lot of people who are supposed to speak out too, people who have platforms and those that should stand up and act are now silent, a lot of our religious leaders are building big cathedrals forgetting that this people that are being k!illed are the one's who are supposed to worship there, they've forgotten that if this k!llings should persist no single human will be in those worship centers and those big cathedrals can even turn a hideout of this terror!st later.
I said something the last time I talked about something like this, I said "today's victims are yesterday's survivor's, and today's survivors may become tomorrow's victims." That is not a curse and its not me wishing anyone bad, it's just the truth, those that d!ed yesterday never thought anything like that will happen to them. The abduction that took place last week was a reminder that a lot is happening in this country, the place the incident took place was just about 2hours ride to my place.. isn't it getting closer to us?
And like I said earlier, we are begining to see these things as normal. We are losing our humanity already. We are seeing these things and act like its nothing, the happenings in the country has made us less of a human, no sympathy, no empathy... No nothing. Just yesterday my colleague at work was showing me how one of the teachers that was k!dnapped close to us was behe@ded, guess what, she was eating at that moment she gave me the phone, and when I returned it, she was still eating. Not even a pause or a stop, k!ll!ngs, abduct!ons and k!dnapp!ngs, are now normal.
A lot of us know what is happening. We've seen, we've heard, and we know. So, let us all focus. Do away with banter's and clout chasings. Forget the trending topics and the issues of infidelity, focus on your safety first. Stop getting distracted, nothing is as important as your security.
Call out the government, tag those that can be tagged, demand for actions, demand for better, protest if needed, demand a leadership change if that's the solution, demand that the ruling government step down if need be. This is nothing to be scared of, they are already killing and kidnappings all around us, so why fear a government that's responsible for your safety.
We are humans. And we don't deserve to be taken out and k!lled/æbducted like we are some sort of...🤦 We deserve to live in peace.
