My childhood dreams disappeared into thin air. As an average Nigerian child, I grew up seeing some people who had carved a niche for themselves in life. From.their wealth of knowledge, I drew a quantum form with the hope that I would climb the ladder of greatness. My biggest fear then wasn't the nation but the ability of my parents to support my dreams by funding my education. They did play their roles and ensured that I was schooled. But now, what I feared the most has come upon me like Job said in the Holy book, the Bible.
My Nigerian dream was to become an accountant. Many things high-jacked this dream from me. At some points, I felt like I was being disloyal to myself. I later had to dream again. Due to the circumstances I found myself from my teenage age till now, I haven't stopped dreaming.
Since my dreams have changed, my life goals have been affected too. I ended up studying history in school. Yes! Nigeria happened to me. Still, I couldn't give up my dreams of being an accountant despite the high dive away from accounting practice. I ventured into professional courses that align with accounting but I have never been employed as an accountant. My dreams have soon changed. I now belong to the school.of thought that believes on the saying:
When Life throws lime at you, make it a lemonade.
Without mincing words, I have decided to hold on firmly to what life has thrown at me, an administration. Here, I feel fulfilled even though I didn't get to practice accounting. My life dreams have now been narrowed to the following.
Travelling To New Places
There are several places around the world I would like to visit. One of those places is Lake Victoria waterfall in Zimbabwe. In my study of history, I have come to understand that the experience of some historical sites is worth more than a million dollars.
No doubt, the world has some notable sites where you can visit. Some could be for the fun of it while some may be for gathering knowledge or to broaden the scope of your study life.
Hence, another place I would like to visit is the Suez canal that borders Africa with Europe. That place is about the most secure place in Africa.
Impact For The Next Generation
One day we were born, one day we shall leave. Let no one think that he will live forever. This is my mind set and that helped me in preparing what I want to leave behind for a generation yet unborn. I want my name to go down in history.
I have started this impact project already. It is just to ensure that all children should have access to education, shelter and food. In the last five years, this project has survived and I am counting because I want to reach more children.
Some people have advised me to make it an NGO. I know what to do but some eggs have made it look like all NGOs are established for self-gain. Some progressive partners have made this dream a reality, with the hope that very soon we shall be known in our country and beyond. That dream will be fulfilled very soon.
Good Governance
I believe that what is worth doing at all is worth doing well. Our people have not had the best representation in government. My advocacy initiative has birthed more individuals with leadership qualities to change the rhetoric. The Nigerian project is feasible. Though a lot of damage ha been done, I still believe that something good can come out of our Nazareth.
These are my dreams and I know that they are achievable. I will pursue these dreams vigorously and ensure that I meet up as I know that time is ticking, every passing moment.
