What's something you used to believe in strongly, but no longer do? What changed your mind?
Obviously, this is an interesting question to ponder on. A lot of people have different beliefs in different things, which may be due to the level of knowledge they are being exposed to, cultural influence, or many other reasons one can think of.Personally, there are things I used to believe in strongly in the past, but I no longer do so, and I will share what they are in this post.
One of those things is that married women doing abortions is impossible! Yes, I strongly believed in the past that it is impossible to see married women doing abortions intentionally just like some singles do. However, I kept growing and understanding life, and I even got married and kept mingling with fellow married women, sharing ideas about family and all that, and in the process, I got to discover that most of the abortions that happen sometimes are mainly from married women. The reason is not far-fetched; unplanned pregnancy can happen, leading some married couples to take such decisions.
I remember being taught about family planning in the church prior to my white wedding, and I think the church has experienced couples going into abortion due to unplanned pregnancy, and that's why the church included this teaching in the marriage course. But still, despite the teachings, some of our married people still make mistakes and choose abortion. You see, I no longer have the strong belief that abortion is not possible with married people due to my experience so far.
I have been exposed to lots of family life issues, and that changed my mind toward this previous belief. I am not saying that I follow my fellow married women to do abortion oo, lol, Good enough, I have been holding on to the whole teachings I received about family planning, and I wish that abortion shouldn't happen among married women intentionally, and if possible, it shouldn't also happen among our singles. If wishes were horses indeed.
Another thing I used to strongly believe in is that being busy implies that someone is highly productive. Like seriously, it's already an old belief because how can someone just be busy doing one thing for hours? My sister is a typical example of this, lolz. You will get into the kitchen and think that she has finished the whole chores, not knowing that she is busy and lazy at the same time doing a particular chore for God knows when, hehehe.
Sometimes, I find myself being very busy with my phone with the excuse of working remotely , and then little distractions, I will be on Instagram, the next minutes, I am on tik Tok, and in another one hour, I in Facebook, strolling through my feed, watching videos and laughing out loud, forgetting that at that moment, I should be working. In an actual sense, I am still busy with my phone but not productive, yet I am draining my energy on a different thing at the wrong time.
Wrapping up, I have come to understand that time management is important if one chooses to work smartly, and obviously it will increase productivity.
There you have it; the two things I used to believe in strongly, but I no longer do. You can join this promptfrom the table of the Hive Naija community.
