It was a day after my surprise bridal shower. My girls and I didn't sleep until the early hours of the morning; we had so much fun. Then, we decided to rest a little bit, and we didn't wake up on time as planned. I hurried into the bathroom when I realized how far time had gone. I had my bath, and my makeup artist and hair stylist started work consecutively.
As they both tried to glam me up, I kept looking at the time because the receptionist for the court wedding had told me that, any couple that showed up after 08:00 am would not be allowed into the venue and even if they attended to them later, it means they would pay an additional 50,000 Naira before that happens. My family and I had planned to leave home by 07:00 am but my make-up artist was not even done by that time yet.
We were able to rush things and we finished by 07:45 am, based on calculation and speed, we should get to the venue for the court wedding by 08:10 am, and hopefully, we will still be allowed to go in. We got on the move and were shocked by the serious queue of hold we found on our way, ah, what is this, I shouted and everyone blamed me for delaying because they had all been ready since 07:00 am, tension grew inside me as I remembered we had even gone pass out the wedding budget and there was no extra 50k to pay anyone.
I was pacing and restless, my friend asked me to calm down and I said, Brother, I cannot calm down oooh, where will the extra 50,000 Naira come from? I started shaking and panicking. Then, an idea came to mind and I said, Daddy let me get down and take a bike to the venue, my Daddy said never, I won't allow you to take a bike on this type of express road. I said, nothing will happen now, people do it, but my Dad refused telling me he wouldn't allow me to risk my life because of 50,000 Naira. In a little corner of my mind, I was wondering if he was going to give me the money🤣🤣.
I didn't take a bike ooh and we stayed in that annoying hold-up for 25 minutes, that should be one of the longest 25 minutes of my life, I panicked, hoped, and prayed at the same time. When we finally moved forward, it turned out the hold-up just covered a short distance and it was caused by some annoying military men who were showing off themselves, as the road usually does not experience hold up normally.
We finally got to the venue around 08:50 am, and I quickly jumped out of the car to the gate where I met some other couples trying to get in, my mind became calm and I said, chai "God punish the devil oo". Some couples still came at past nine and they were allowed inside. I think the gate was opened until 10:00 am when no couple was allowed to come in again. I imagined if I had used my fine dress to hop on a bike that day, with my bouquet in my hand, I would have probably ended up on one of these gossip blogs. Every time I remember that day, I just smile and thank my Dad for not allowing me to take a bike on that faithful day.
