First love stories can be very funny because we don't know how to handle how we were feeling back then and we just do what comes to our mind.
I did funny, awkward, and romantic stuff when I was young because as a pretty girl, I had standards. It happened that I started crushing on a guy and the truth is I have never crushed on anyone until I met this guy. It's not like he's that cute but you all know how young love is?
I was an indoor girl but whenever my mom sent me errands across the road I always made sure I dressed so well because there were lots of young guys in my area back then. But there was one particular guy I was crushing on and I had no idea he was looking for a way to talk to me as well, what I just noticed was that anytime I was going to buy something this guy always followed me.
You all know how young ladies act when they know they are beautiful, I like him but I wanted to do some shakara for him so that he wouldn't think that I am cheap, that was the word we used back then. When a guy asks a lady out and she doesn't give him a tough time it means she is a cheap girl, LoL.
So, one day I was sent to get cooked beans across the road for my sick junior sister, and on my way back, I saw this guy talking to his friends beside the road and immediately I set my eyes on him, I changed the way I was walking.
While I was catwalking from afar, I forgot to look down and when I was almost at where they were standing, I tripped and I fell. Immediately, all my shakara disappeared because I felt embarrassed and the person I was doing all the shakara for ran to where I was to help me up.
"Sorry damsel, I hope you didn't hurt yourself," he asked.
I was so ashamed and didn't know what response to give. I looked at him and that was the first time I had seen him so close, I smiled and said, "Thanks," as he helped me up.
All his friends shouted, "Wow," because of the way I looked into his eyes before I said thanks. He followed me down to where I was going, we talked but you know girls always form hard to get so I listen to him all through.
"Have been crushing on you for so long but you never give me attention," he said.
I smiled again then said, "Oh really?" Meanwhile, I was thanking God deep within me. LoL 😂
We became friends and we only see whenever my mom sent me to buy something, sometimes when she didn't even want to send me I was always eager to go out, my mom noticed that and she stopped sending me messages to that place.
The guy didn't see me for a while so he was forced to come down to our street and he just stood opposite our house while I was sitting outside of our house.
We were just smiling at eachother from afar and the funniest part was that he couldn't come closer and I couldn't go to where he was but seeing eachother was enough for us.
When I finished secondary school and left Ogun state I always laughed whenever I remembered how he would stand in a far place and I would be in front of our house smiling back at him.
Now if I see young girls and boys doing that I would just laugh because that looks awkward but romantic at the same time, I didn't even have a phone then so there was no how we could communicate except for him looking at me from a far distance. Love is sweet sha 🤣
