Sometimes, people who do not really understand the negative effect of war may think that it’s just what to embark on but as the case may be, war is dangerous, and deadly to humanity because it may lead to loss of lives, properties including health facilities and all these will definitely affect the economy just as the case of the Central African where the Ukraine war has affected its economy by shortening food importations.
VN reported that about 11 Central African countries through its Farmers Association with about 60 representatives have lamented that since 14, February 2022 Russia invaded Ukraine and causing war, there has been continuous food shortage within the Central Africans countries because the importation of most food items like wheat, cassava, corn, and many more from Ukraine is no longer accessible. The Central African Farmers Association also pointed out that the food shortage within its main Central African countries comprising Cameroon, DR Congo, Angola, Central African Republic, Chad, Equatorial Guinea, Rwanda, Gabon, and many more countries are mostly affecting the poor who can’t afford to buy the high cost of food as the economy is also crumbling due to the Ukraine war.
Filing from the VN report, the Central African Farmers Association conference which was held in Yaoundé the capital of Cameroon pointed out more on its food shortage within the Central African countries that Ukraine as a country has always been of good help to them in terms of adequate food supply and even at a cheaper rate. They noted that no one knows when the war will end with Ukraine and if it continues, that simply means that millions of Central African country's citizens should be ready to suffer more and if care is not taken many will die of hunger.
The Central African Farmers Association through its conference held in Yaoundé the capital of Cameroon was able to point out the only way in which food scarcity caused by the Ukraine war can be battled within the Central African countries. In their view, it’s time for the central African government to take an active interest in Agriculture by providing enough resources which involve finance, road network, and communication network so that they can be able to produce enough seeds for the planting of crops because many farmers across Central Africa are ready and willing to farm in order to tackle food shortage.
Insider reports The Central African countries that attended the Central African Farmers Association conference held in Yaoundé the capital of Cameroon include Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Chad, Angola, Burundi, Congo, DR Congo, Sao Tome and Principe, Gabon, Rwanda, and Equatorial Guinea.
