The Richest Man in Babylon
One of the most hard hitting books ever to break you out of your "poor" state of mind.
This book is a mythical (maybe) story of a rich merchant and a poor boy. And how the poor boy learns how to get out of the bottom rungs of society.
This story book illustrates, through story (not lecture) how any person can change their position in life from poor to rich. It is a really easy read. Its quite short. And the life lessons are second to none.
The basics (without the really good world building) is that you save 10% of what you make. 10% isn't that much, anyone can adjust their budget so that they can save 10%.
- First you learn to live off of 90% of your income, never going into debt.
- Next, you pay off your debts, becoming free. Freeing your personal energy, because every debt you owe means you are a slave to someone else.
- Then, you take your 10% every month and you invest it. Thus, you will find yourself becoming more and more wealthy.
This is the book that all the best become rich book authors started with.
I can remember so many of them referencing this book.
Jim Rohn says to get this book the same day you hear about it. (not tomorrow)
