Attacking people's character to discredit what they said.

This happens so much. I find it like sort of a game during elections when the candidates simply try to make the other person look as bad as possible when they themselves aren't exactly the portrait of purity. I look at most debates as prepared statements to attack the other person and by the end of it most people don't even have any idea what either candidate actually stands for... all they know is that one guy had a mistress and the other one smoked pot or something like that. It's really dumb.
