If you can ban speech and ideas you don't like do you think the people that were speaking and had those ideas suddenly cease to exist? Do you suspect they suddenly stop thinking those things?
Do you believe in reality?
If so, why would you choose to pretend it is something that it is not.
If someone is a very bad person that you would not want to have anything to do with how would you know if their thoughts and speech are concealed?
Are you an adult?
Are you mature?
Do you think hiding under the blankets will protect you from any true monster if they happened to be in the room?
If you answered those questions in any sane way then the next question is important.
Why do you think blocking hate speech, or ideas you don't like even remotely reflects reality?
Don't you think it would better if you could see reality and try to make meaningful changes and lead by example?
Banning, and censoring only make a false view of reality.
If a very vocal minority becomes those that get to decide what should be censored then it becomes even further out of touch with reality.
How can you plan for the future if you don't know what is going on in reality?
Quit being afraid of words.
Words are important.
Quit expecting people to think the same as you.
That is boring.
Quit acting like an Ostrich.
Pull your head out of the sand.
I could have said that in a much more rude way...
Let freedom of speech reign.
If you don't like an idea. Challenge it with your words. If you are convincing you'll have an effect. You won't change minds by simply banning or censoring things YOU don't like.
If you are mature. Act like it.
