Hello dear loyal readers, let this occasion serve to punctuate how the bitcoin price is left without a Christmas rally as Bitcoin volatility hits an all-time low, Bitcoin has never been so boring, according to the Bitcoin Historical Volatility Index, as Christmas 2022 has offered nothing for either cryptocurrency bulls or cryptocurrency bearish traders.
Bitcoin prices failed to deliver a Santa Claus rally for Christmas 2023, when Dec. 25 offered even more sideways BTC price action.
The bitcoin volatility index hits all-time lows, data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro and TradingView showed the BTC/USD pair clinging to a tight trading range around $16,800.
The pair had stubbornly refused to offer any form of volatility throughout much of the week, with the absence of a macro trigger reinforcing a lackluster performance.
The total crypto market capitalization had retraced the entirety of its gains from its 2017 highs and was now testing those highs for support.
Meanwhile, trader and analyst Phoenix noted similarities to Christmas 2018, just after the well of bitcoin's last bear market during its previous halving cycle.
Even less optimistic was analyst Toni Ghinea, who on Christmas Eve reaffirmed his theory that the next quarter will produce the next bear market low.
