Freedom of Thought - Is that coming to an end with Meta?

Our freedoms are slowly being taken away, in case you haven’t noticed.

We live in a place that we call home. We all play a role in the creation and upkeep of our society. No one on planet earth can be held accountable for what’s going on, and no one is innocent. We are all here together and the butterfly effect is real…every action has a reaction, right? It is, like everything else in the universe, forever evolving.

Well, in today’s version of society, though we cannot blame anyone, there is a certain “human management system” that has been put into play by the “powers that be”. The only reason it is able to support itself is because most of the humans that are being managed voluntarily agree to it. Would people simply stop participating in that system, naturally it wouldn’t have a leg to stand on, and a new management plan would take form.

These are thoughts from having read Étienne de La Boétie’s “Discourse of Voluntary Servitude”. There are so many great eye opening statements about human control, you’ll sometimes forget thois was an essay published in the 1500’s.

Here’s one of my favorite quotes, this one resonates with today narrative for sure:

"They never undertake an unjust policy, even one of some importance, without prefacing it with some pretty speech concerning public welfare and common good."

I mean if this doesn’t give you chills when you read it, I think you may do yourself a favor by stepping back a few feet and taking another look at the big picture. There is not one difference today as there was 500 years ago, the “powers that be” will stop at nothing to keep their position. They will only become more powerful if you help them. It’s as simple as that.

They've already begun to take control of our thoughts. These last couple of years have been a great example of how easily we can be swayed to think one way or another. But this isn’t new, we’ve had the technology to make others think what we want them to think. Look at how well Houdini could persuade his audience, they were just tricks of magic, nothing but illusions, smoke and mirrors. Let's not forget how government entities have persuaded their citizens to demand horrific acts such as burning alive those who practiced natural medicine. These acts of horror happened over and over again throughout history.

And now there are new technologies to keep us from thinking freely. Facebook and the likes have had the opportunity to develop all sorts of thought manipulation technologies.

What we are about to witness with the rolling out of Meta will be like nothing we've ever experienced. In terms of vegging out in a virtual space, this thing will be more addictive than heroin. The damage to humanity could be tremendous. We can bet there will be money to be made in rehabilitative therapy... why would people ever want to leave the perfect world they create within the metataverse. Reality will but a place to feed yourself and sleep from time to time.

Though we still have freedom of thought, don't be fooled, our thoughts are easily manipulated.
