Forgive me, I'm still, after being away for so long, not so familiar with liking/loving or tipping in the UI - nor the differences between HIVEs, HP, etc., so bear with me okay?
I have heard of dolphins ramming people when they wanted to tell them to get away from their pod, out of the water, or in the case of Navy Seals that tried to cheat in the training games they played with the dolphins (turns out, you can teach them games but they don't like cheaters) out at San Clemente Island, for example - even breaking ribs when the offender didn't take the hint and get out of the water.
But yes, in this case it was the cops. The poor idiot related to me, however, that it was the most edifying experience of his life and felt he made a primal connection with the dolphins in the pool, at least according to him.
And on that other note, yes I gathered (70 miles out to sea) that making that Atlantic crossing was plausible, not withstanding things like actually navigating (lol) and adequate provisions (food). Even then, the most likely situation would have been finding a debris field following some kind of storm, like the approaching hurricane you mentioned.
