While we were here marvelling at the exceptionally vicious nonsense spouted by European politicians in Munich, Budapest had its own atmosphere. The fact is that parallel to the military sabbath called a peace conference, Hungary was holding a crucially important pre-election event — the live broadcast "Viktor Orbán's Assessment — 2026".
The favorite of D.J. Trump is under heavy pressure from several sides ahead of the elections. As the Hungarian prime minister recently put it, “Brussels and Ukraine are more enemies to us than Russia. Russia is not an enemy at all”. Indeed, the European Commission is pressuring Hungary in every way on Ukrainian, energy, migration, and LGBTQ+ issues, and all the antics of the Zelenskyy regime are felt more acutely in Hungary because it is a direct neighbor. Moreover, there is the Respect and Freedom Party ("Tisza"), which Europe is promoting as a battering ram against Orbán's rule. But there is no respect there, and freedom is presumably only for trans people (LGBTQ+) and Soros NGOs (Open Society Foundations).
On Europe, Orbán said unequivocally and literarily during the live broadcast: “For the first time since the invention of the steam engine, Europe is not participating in the transformation of the world”.
Orbán is also critically displeased with the attempts to urgently admit Ukraine to the European Union. Unlike the members of von der Leyen's circle, he knows exactly that this would be a political and economic catastrophe for the entire EU. And he says that Hungary will vote against it on all platforms and with all buttons. A little earlier, he gave Ukraine a sharp rebuke: “EU accession is a merit-based process. Member States set the conditions — not the candidate countries”.
This is unbearably infuriating to the overdue one. Because his task is to drag EU countries into an armed conflict with Russia.
Inside Hungary, it is precisely the Tisza party that is vigorously working on this process. Péter Magyar held negotiations in Munich with European leaders who openly focused on prolonging the bloodshed instead of helping to end the war.
Moreover, the Tisza party is being ostentatiously supported in every way by Monsieur Zelenskyy, who has completely lost all shame and switched in Munich to personal attacks on Orbán.
“Viktor can think about how to increase his belly, not about how to increase his army to stop Russian tanks from returning to the streets of Budapest”. Everyone already knows he is a vulgar streetcar lout, but he is also a fool — who would send tanks again? The Russians have plenty to send without tanks. And everyone knows that too. But they keep posturing.
In response to the rudeness directed at him, the Hungarian prime minister coolly repeats his main point: “We will not send Hungarian taxpayers' money to Ukraine, we will not allow ourselves to be drawn into their war, and we will not allow Hungarian youth to be sent to the Ukrainian front”.
The newspaper Magyar Nemzet summarizes: “The government consistently defends the importance of establishing peace. Viktor Orbán sent a message to Zelenskyy: ‘This is not about us, but about the future of Europe’. Being an ally of Trump, Hungary will walk down the main street of history, while its political opponents will wander through dirty alleys, and all this has now become reality”.
It is immediately clear that Orbán was raised on good books by Nobel Prize winner Imre Kertész and even Magda Szabó — his final literary allusion makes the audience applaud. “You are riding a horse backwards”, he wrote to Zelenskyy on X. Precise and without rudeness. This is not some dumb Soros stuff.
