MARRIAGE FEVER Your view on the marriage fever flying up and down as the year comes to an end?
Hello #scifimultiverse, compliments of the season, and welcome to the new year 2026.

Marriage can be defined as a union of two individuals who have chosen to live together and build a family, respecting and caring for each other through thick and thin, and mutually cohabiting as one.
Marriage is a good thing and the right thing to do when a girl or boy grows up and reaches adulthood, where they are accountable, prepared financially and emotionally, to decide to say 'I do'. This is because it requires lots of commitment, shared responsibilities, emotional strength, and the capacity to make decisions.
Presently, marriage is just hyped, and people are just celebrating weddings. While some understand the demands of marriage, others feel that it is a stage-managed event that they could explore today and end tomorrow, without minding the implications.
In the same way, some parents and aunties unconsciously pressure their children and nieces to delve into this institution without being mindful of the result of their actions. Some of their reasons are that time does not wait for the female gender, their mates have all married, therefore they should settle down by all available means. Some other reasons are the benefits they derive from such occasions, while some are just for them to belong to the married category with that (Mrs.) written in front of their names. Not leaving the urge to have their grandchildren around them and to showcase and flex them to anyone who cares to know.
On the other side, for the male folk, the urge to have their grandchildren, change status like other mothers, e.g., (Grandma status), and worst still, if the male or female is the only gender in the family, the pressure will be triple to marry early to preserve the kindred from extinction. All these are challenges.
Currently, as the year comes to a close and the new year begins, every single lady or boy who is ripe for marriage is under the influence of this marriage fever from their peers, social media, or family. I am worried because this kind of show could push our ladies to the wrong marital decision. Marriage is a lifetime decision. Some ladies are avoiding public events right now due to pressure from their families and the internet.
A distant relation called me on the 1st of this year and asked me, “When will God remember her and men see her? I just responded soon and advised her not to be pressured or boxed into a corner by what she’s seeing on social media. She should position herself well this year by ensuring she connects and becomes active in her social and church gatherings. Meanwhile, she is okay, character-wise. After our discussion, she was encouraged to move on with her life and not be depressed.
During my time, my parents were kind and active in our lives. I wasn’t pressured, but my mum was prayerfully reminding me to look around me and know that it’s time to settle down maritally. Those words kept me in check. So, immediately I finished my university academics, marriage happened.

Nowadays, social glamour, family, peers, and parental pressure on their wards for marriage is super-high. I do feel for the young ladies around me, some have been pushed into the wrong hands, and today they are managing, suffering, and smiling in their marriages. Some ended up in divorce a few months after marriage, and some filled with domestic violence here and there; these are the results of the wrong decision our young lads and counterparts make out of marriage fever and the rush to settle down maritally.
In conclusion, when marital decisions are rightly made, the union flows seamlessly. Both parties won’t want any spoil but mutual understanding. They would be open to discussions when issues arise, which is normal. When people are pressured to marry, the result is not always palatable.
