There are times that most human tends to prioritize work over personal health because most times more than passion are financial responsibilities. For many professional, balancing work life and personal health is a challenge we are facing. As a baker ,cook and decorator, my work requires time, committed,long hours of standing , lifting heavy things, climbing ladders and a lot more, it's so demanding ,it's tasking. You shouldn't be surprised if there are times I forgot about myself, about my health and that is it for many professionals out there.
Many times I forgot to eat,I starve myself of rest, at that time all what I want to do is achieve my clients orders, make sure to get it all right but forgot if my system break down,it won't take up that work, I got ulcer due to poor eating time, I was working but gaining weight because my sleep schedule was irregular, I started to lose creativity due to mood swings, everyone started complaining that I'm losing myself, my smile. I reason about it ,what is the benefit prioritizing work over my physical well-being when at the end it's still affect my productivity.
I finally realized that balancing work and physical being does not mean I should work less, I need to have planning, I need to have limits, not every order requires me to say yes to, I should learn to say no as well, I should make my clients understand I have limits , urgent orders that doesn't allow me to prepare and organized a head of time should be cancelled.
I developed an habit then , I don't eat before starting work, I will say good would make me weak , didn't realize I'm damaging my system. Now I know better, I don't start work without eating, in the middle of work as well, I give myself time to still eat.
As we are hustling to survive ,our mental well being is as important too,when work and physical well being are balanced , it's gives good productivity, longevity in the business too.
