While growing up, I was so interested in robotic movies due to how advanced they seemed to be; their strengths and level of intelligence are top-notch.
Nevertheless, in most of the robotic movies I have watched, one of the common disadvantages of the robots is that they are vulnerable to hacking.
And once their programming is tampered with, they become evil and execute actions contrary to their original purpose.
I like robots, thank God for technology, we have varieties of them today. Some of them are built to assist us to do chores at home, some to work in companies and industries, some as pets and so on.
Robots have their own weaknesses; they are machines, sometimes they develop faults, sometimes they malfunction but we can't deny the fact that they are here to make things easy for man.
Even though their presence is already directly affecting some people negatively by taking their jobs, in some fields, they are a saviour.
All of us have either read or watched in movies how wonderful robots can be, they are almost like humans, but unfortunately, they don't have certain human traits, like emotion and a natural ability to survive without batteries.
Assuming Robots have the ability to feel like humans, it would be cool, but a lot will go out of place.
These things are machines; their functions are obvious, to assist man in carrying out his tasks and to lessen the workload on man.
Now, if they have the ability to feel, there is possibility for them to begin to fall in love with humans. And even if their programs forbids it, since it is emotion, there is a possibility for them to break protocol.
For someone like me who loves being alone and interacting with a book and pen, imagine what I'll do if I have a robot friend that has feelings and can understand my situation? For sure, it'll become my best friend, and it'll become a priority in my life.
The relationship between people would drastically decline within a short period of time if robots began to feel emotions.
And because they are machines, imagine the kind of silly things humans would explore with them.
Some would even end up marrying them, and that's an aberration. There would be a lot of atrocities. And for sure, some robots would leave their owners and go for people they are attracted to emotionally.
Currently, some robots only have bodies like humans, and some people are already opting for them as their partners and doing crazy things with them in secret. Imagine that emotion is attached, wouldn't it be disastrous?
I know I am only focused on the bad side, of course, there are good sides to robots having emotions too, but, left for me, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.
Robots are perfect the way they are without emotions; let them serve their purpose. What are we looking for from machines that we want them to have emotions?
If God wanted a machine to be man's companion, he would have created one man and then a machine, but he created humans and their kind having the same features.
That means that man's companion should originally be a fellow human and not a machine. I know we have all experienced betrayal in one way or another that has made us give up on people, but trust me, there are still reliable people out there. A machine with emotion is never the best option.
