I have several digital books, but I don't have the courage to read them. Sometimes, I start and then give up too soon. But when it's physical, I don't even care about the number of pages; something keeps pushing me to read until I am done.
It is no longer news that physical books are gradually losing their place in society. The number of people of my kind who prefer to study traditional books is gradually decreasing.
If you look at our society today you would discover that due to how people are losing interest in physical books and how digital books are taking over, the library is no longer regarded.
Even in schools, nowadays, students only go to the library when it's time for a project, or for research that they can not easily access data, and if not, many prefer to use the internet..
The majority of people now prefer to study digital books for reasons known to them.
The truth is, in a world where libraries are gone, and there is only one left, there is going to be so much pressure on the librarian.
Forget the fact that many people are interested in digital books; the few that love physical books would put pressure on the library left, and that may create a lot of work for the librarian.
Another issue I think the Liberians might face is the issue of a lack of supplies and assistance from the government.
Certain materials will no longer be reached, and those that go bad may not be fixed. Unless it is a privately owned library, the government might withdraw from taking care of it, and so gradually it will die.
As much as I love traditional books, I don't fancy reading at the library; I have never done that.
I prefer to study at home in the comfort of my room. It gives me the space to do anything I like, read the way it best suits me; either aloud or quietly depending on what the moment brings.
So, whether there are libraries or not, I will still study the physical books, just make the books available.
Well, the absence of libraries would affect people differently depending on where they enjoy reading. For someone who enjoys reading in the library, such a change would hit him or her hard; it might take some time to adjust and adapt to the change.
But someone who can read anywhere won't even feel the change. The only problem that he or she might have is if physical books go extinct.
At that point, he or she would be struggling to adjust and adapt to digital books, and it might take a long or short time depending on how much they love to study.
