If you are from Africa, especially from Nigeria, you'll likely have a love-hate relationship with public transportation. From conductors trying to swindle you to buses breaking down on the road to armed robbers trying to block every angle on the road to kidnappers having their ways too, but in all this there is a part called adventure, where you can never get that using air means of transportation.
Transportation in my country will either change your character or you will remain a dumb person, if you do not know how to play a conductor role then you have to learn one if you are in Nigeria, especially in Lagos, those conductors would want to pay with your integrity but do not panic because you can that hidden talent in you, the only thing is to unleash it.
My worst experience was when I went to write my entrance examination at a university and I wanted to travel back the next day, after the examination we were coming out of the hall when a guy held my hand when I turned to check the person it turned out to be one of my classmates in secondary school, I was so happy to see him and we planned to leave the next day.
The next day we had some runnings in the school which made it very late for us to leave, we decided to use a night bus, it was an 8 hours journey from where we were to our state, we both agreed on a night journey, we have a park where we are to meet exact 10 pm, the kept to time and we were both at the park at that time.
We got to the park and spoke with some drivers, they said we should exercise some Patience and that the bus that would take us was on its way, by this time it was getting to 11 PM, and I was already feeling cold, after 12 in the morning we were still there seated at the park and waiting for the bus, it was around 1 AM was when the bus finally came and everywhere was already occupied, the driver told us that the only solution was for us to stood up till we get to our destination, this time I was shaking because the cold was so intense and it was the harmattan season.
We agreed to stand all through the journey but when we entered the luxurious bus a man offered me a seat and I was so happy, we were on our way when other buses were turning back that there was a barricade in one town like that, instead for our driver to turn back and take another route he decided to follow his mind by not turning back, he claimed that the bus would pass through, we all shouted at him but this man was adamant.
He got to the town and got to know that he had to turn back to follow another route, this took us an hour and some minutes, we all murmured at him because of his attitude, this man doesn't care about us how if anyone is going to any important place, the journey was so boring and the next day was my cousin sister's traditional wedding, the journey took like 14 hours before we got home, the man was so slow and not considerate at all, he took his time perfectly and care about no one.
My best experience with public transport was when I was posted out for my national youth service, I so much enjoyed this vehicle, it was a company vehicle (GIGM). Their service was topnotch, it was one of my best experiences, so comfortable, no dragging of seats, there are charging ports in the vehicle, and you have the chance to watch any movie of your choice, you can sleep and wake up anytime you want, no policemen disturbing, the journey was so smooth because I booked ahead of time and it was their jet-mover I used.
The driver was so friendly, cracking jokes and also the company will call you two times to ask about the journey, they want a review about the driver if we are okay with him and if he is serving us well, it was a great experience that I had to book them in my next trip and also recommend it to my brother when he wanted to travel by road.
