Ever wondered why we even call it a smart phone? I thought about it and decided to do my little research. Turns out it was simply because there were other phone types before what we know as smartphones came to be. The only difference was that these phones could only make calls and send text messages. Smartphones came to change the narrative of what phones could do, and right now our definition of a smartphone from the time they were created and now is totally different. Then so long it could browse the internet, it was smart. Now we look at different features to attain how smart a phone can really be.
But what if one day we discover that all these things will no longer be because for some reasons smartphones will stop to exist. The fact is that it would be a really great loss, but the world will recover in time as humans are a very adaptable species. But then again why would the loss of smartphones be detrimental to humans, the fact is that it would cut off access to information on a very major scale. I don't want to even talk about the jobs and relationships that would be lost, but you see the amount of information that would be lost, it might even crumble nations.
Information is power, and the informations smartphones carry is one of the many reasons they are smart. Before we talk about fun, jobs and livelihoods that would go down the drain, let's look at how many passwords your phone has access to, or how many times you need your smartphone for a verification to an account. Or how your passcode is connected to your smartphone. When I lost my phone was when I realized how much I depended on it, not just for fun, but for some kind of security I can't get on my PC. Then what if anything that looks like a computer is taken off the table? I would say, just take us back to the stone age because that's where we will be heading to next.
