Accountability Is Maturity.

I don't know if everyone was like that, but it's just who I am, when anything happens, I try as much as possible to defend myself while stating the reason why it is not my fault, well I know it will have a name, I dont know if to call it a survival or defensive instinct 🫣. My first reaction is to always defend myself and find a way to not put the blame on myself, or to find a way to split it so I don't take all of the blame. And to be honest, it's just me protecting my pride not fixing or finding a solution to the problem.

Something happened some times ago, and to be honest with you, I didn't plan it, I didn't even realize that was what I did, I guess I'm more mature now 😁, well I happen to disappoint the person, and the me that I know will definitely give one or two excuses or blame it on time and such, but I simply took responsibility, said sorry and accepted it was my mistake. I've done that before even realizing I did, and it kind of felt painful but I was glad with the outcome, this person acted matured too, he love the fact that I accepted my mistake and did not get angry or drag the issue with me. And that made me realize that accountability is maturity, and not weakness.

When we admit our mistakes and take responsibility of it, people tend to see us differently and respect us. We can't all be perfect, but we can be sincere when things go wrong, that's taking accountability. When you work or in a relationship with someone, and they know you can be trusted and that when you make a mistake you can own up to it and take responsibility, they feel safe with you and know you won't shift blames at the end of the day.

Accountability as well helps us to grow, and I also believe accountability and taking responsibility is almost same. When you are accountable and can own up to things you definitely grow, when you can take responsibility for a thing you tend to improve and become more confident.

In conclusion, I would love to add that accountability is you choosing growth, peace, clarity, trust, and responsibility over arguments, pride, and ego.
