The Last Librarian.

This last library actually stood at a distance of only God knows, and in a town where people has migrated from, it wa nothing close to the next town, it was built there then when people were till very much around and the town was bubbling, the whole community then decided to erect it there just so they could have enough space in case they want to expand it later, it never occurred to them that it might be of no use someday.

The walls of that library is one to be careful of, you can't even trust it enough to rest your back on it, but I wonder how even with how old and cracked the building is, it's still housing thousands of books. Mr. Tunde happens to be the librarian—the last librarian. And the only thing he does is to leave his home and open the rickety door of the library every blessed morning, even though almost no one is coming again.

People now read books via the Internet using their phones, laptops and such, you can have a hundred stories or books in your phone and it don't feel heavier. You can immediately switch to Google or the dictionary to check the meaning of a word you don't understand while reading. And some even claimed reading on screen is faster than opening the pages of a book. But Mr. Tunde holds a different view, to him books are way more than that.

And I can tell you for free that he's facing challenges, one of which is loneliness. People have stopped coming by since a long time ago, even the government has stopped funding the library. The building itself is nothing to write home about again, aside the cracked walls, some parts of the roof were leaking already, I guess the partner he still has together with him are the rats helping him run the library when it's night. Even, Mr. Tunde won't stop dusting and cleaning the old, tattered and yellowish books.

Mr. Tunde believes stories in books feels different when you read it. Personally, I still prefer the library. Not as if I don't make use of my phone too, I do but I've come to see that we often get distracted while reading via the screen and we often rush...or maybe it's just me.
