I welcome you to my blog. The world that we live in today is this beautiful thanks to the continuous evolution of technology. Before today and what we have today, those before us had a lot of things to deal with, from that lack of transportation or fast means of transportation to the lack of communication or poor means of communication. One thing I have learned over the years is that for you to appreciate technology more, you should listen to stories from those who have lived in the era with little or no technology at all. If you listen to them, you will see how much beauty and how easy technology has made our lives.
My mom, one time, was thanking God for technology and how it is one of the things that helps her stay at peace considering my father's line of work. She said one time he was in Liberia and sent her a letter, as at that time they still used letters as a means of communication, but the letter reached her after about 9 months of him writing. She said at that point she did not know if she should be happy or sad because 9 months is a long time and anything can happen in the space of 9 months, and for that reason she did not even have the zeal to respond to the message because what if who she was writing to was no more?
Before technology, communication was nothing to write home about; you could send a letter and the recipient would get it 3 months later or even 6-10 months later. Sometime before then, if it had been an emergency, whatever could have been avoided must have happened already, and receiving the letter at that time becomes a complete waste.
Imagine spending days, weeks, or even months on the road because you are either trekking or using an animal to travel, and you have to be humane and let the animal rest from time to time while you too get some rest. Some of the rest while en route pose a very heavy risk, as you can be robbed and left with nothing since most people rest in lonely areas, thereby giving robbers the opportunity to do as they like.
Today we have so many means of communication where information can be passed from one person to another in minutes, if not seconds. Thanks to technology, we can choose the means of communication that we want to operate with; we can also choose the means of transportation we want to travel by. Technology and its continuous evolution gave us choices. A world without technology will be dark, and we won't get to enjoy all that we are enjoying currently, and I really cannot imagine life without all that we have now, so a world without technology is a no for me.
