Hello, everyone.
I welcome you to my blog. The world has gone from being safe to not being safe at all; the world we used to live in is one where you worry less about the need to defend yourself because crime was not rampant and security agents were busy doing their jobs and making sure that the lives and properties of citizens were kept safe and protected. We once had a world where you could leave your doors open at night and nothing would happen, a world where we felt very safe and not scared of a thing, a world where everyone cared for each other and would come to your aid when you screamed for help.
In the world above there was little or no need for one to emphasize the need to learn self-defense because crime was low and security agents were active and making sure everyone was safe, and today in a country like mine, security agents like the police are part of those we are scared of; instead of running to them for help, we run away from them because running to them gets you into more trouble instead of getting you out of the one you are in.
Today, things are completely different; we now have a world where we are either sacred of this or that, and sometimes we are scared of both. One cannot move around freely at night without looking over their shoulders, let alone leave their doors open at night; you can close your doors at night and still have people break into your house, not to talk more of when you keep them open. We now live in a world where crime is on the increase and the world is no longer as safe as it used to be; today we have a world where failure to have any self-defense skill leaves you at a disadvantage.
One thing we should know is that self-defense is not always about waiting until it happens and then engaging in a fistfight with your attackers. Being cautious of your environment and people around you, observing movement, and taking a safer route before things go bad is also an act of self-defense. Saving yourself the stress of bringing yourself out is always better and is only possible when you are observant enough to observe them before they strike.
Another form of self-defense I possess is pepper spray; one time when kidnapping using tricycles became rampant, my friend bought pepper spray and shared it for all of us, and since then I sometimes carry it around just in case the need for it arises. Also, I am not a professional fighter, but when the need comes to fight my way out, I trust myself to deliver, as there is a John Cena inside of me that is just waiting to be activated.
