The topic of increasing population is not just an academic discussion in today's time. Still, it has become a ground reality which affects every country, every city and every person directly and indirectly. Whenever we talk about the development process and future growth, the first question that arises is whether we have the resources to meet the needs of such a growing population and is our earth so big and capable that it can satisfy a person's basic need of food, water, shelter and energy or not.
When the population increases, the first thing that comes under pressure is natural resources and as the number of people increases, their needs also increase. Food, water, housing, electricity, clothes, transportation, and everything else - the source of all these things is nature. But there is a limit near the bottom and its capacity is limited to a fixed boundary. Ad In today's time, man is consuming so much that the earth is not getting time to seal its wonders and due to the cutting of forests, it is getting reverse polluted and becoming toxic and the fertility of the soil is ending and all this is happening because our population is not under control.
If we say in simple words when food is cooked for 10 people and a lot of people come there, then it is not enough to feed everyone similarly, natural resources supply food up to a certain limit and when air pollution increases, it creates security and this security is not just a physical problem but also a socially political economics problem. It creates caste and when people do not have necessities, then unrest increases. Crime increases and social harmony is disturbed.
Another important expectation is population and when there are more people, there will be more products and more vehicles. More things will be used. There will be more plastic and all this has a direct impact on the environment. The demand for water increases and the result is groundwater, depletion and water is lost. Then you understand how big a problem it is, you can solve this problem with your own hands and in today's time there is drinking water in cities comes through tankers and till a few years ago, there used to be hand pumps in every street and neighbourhood.
The disappearance of forests is also a part of this problem and when the population increases people need houses and land is suitable for houses and land is available in forests and we humans cut our forests for our comfort without thinking that the same forests are there which give us oxygen, maintain the balance of rain and regulate the climate and when forests are cut then wildlife accidents happen and everything including tigers, elephants, the world is snatched away and biodiversity is lost and the ecosystem is disturbed.
The energy crisis is also a side effect of population growth and electricity, fuel gases are all available in limited quantity and when the demand goes out there is a shortage and hence power cuts take place Fuel prices start increasing and people ignore Eco-friendly options and start moving towards cheap and fast solutions which are harmful to the environment.
After population, another major impact is on agriculture and more people means more demand for food and to fulfil this demand farmers have to use chemical fertilisers and pesticides. This is a short-term solution but in the long term it reduces the quality of the soil and then the same land becomes useless after a few years and the land becomes useless and deforestation increases and new lands are cleared for farming and this is a vicious cycle which has more destruction tension.
It would not be wrong to say that population explosion is a silent structure and because its impact is slow, people take it lightly and when the resources are completely exhausted, then they understand what they have lost. What is needed is awareness and what is needed is a policy that promotes family planning more importantly, there is a need for education in which people understand the meaning of having children. The future is uncertain and most importantly, there is collective action in which everyone contributes to saving nature.
If we do not take strong steps towards population control today, then in the coming times we will not have drinking water, water to breathe and no environment to hike and the jungles that used to exist in stories will remain only in history books and the animals that we see only in science and hear about in stories and before all this becomes true, we have to do something for nature. But if we keep ignoring it, then one day it will turn against us and when nature comes in opposition, it has its consequences. Today we can regulate the increasing population only by our thinking, our actions and our decisions. Nature gives us a chance to correct our mistakes and it is up to us whether we use science or not and handle the problem before it arises so that we can forget about long-term destruction while running after our short-term needs.
