This week has been an interesting one on a personal level, one minute fucking terrifying. Sorry for the F bomb but last Friday we thought we were on the brink of losiing someone close; he had been rushed into hospital with multiple complications, organ failure and we literally thought he wasnt going to make the night. Then he took a turn… for the better and we are now telling him off for scaring the fucking shit out of us. Jeez!
He isn’t out of the woods and his health will remain precarious for awhile but he will recover and will be able to return home at some point. He’s only 59 and my step-kids biological dad. They’ve rebuilt ties with him recently and thats good. We are all rooting for him and a steady recovery.
Meanwhile, I’ve been in and out of hospital myself for some check-ups after a virus knocked me for six in March and caused me an acute kidney injury, which was scary in itself considering that I am a transplantee. Blood tests later revealed that it had thankfully recovered.
However they wanted to check on my cardiac and arterial health, so went in for a MRI scan last Friday which happened to be my birthday. Turned out to be a dramatic day and not a very conventional birthday at all. We were in the waiting room, everything was calm, just the buzz and hum of hospital noises in the background when a man sitting opposite us stood up and slumped to the floor. My wife and other more cool headed people rushed to his aid, shouting out, “he’s crashed, paramedics please!’, whilst the rest of us were ushered to another room and my wife joined me a few minutes later. I was hyperventilating, because I was already nervous as it was and then this poor guy falling unconcious to the ground like a sack of spuds.
Thankfully later, we learnt that he was ok, he had blacked out as a result of adrenaline shock - I calmed down and went in for my scan which was a little unnerving to say the least.
They were checking my arterial health and a few days later they have reported no problems, all nice and healthy. Thank God.
I have another CT scan though for the kidney, as they want to double check, even though we are less concerned now things have returned to normal.
The job hunt continues but the market is somewhat flaky. Lots of AI jobs, hmmmmmm.
Enjoy my little beat I created last night, I enjoy making them, they are educational, fun and creative.
UPDATE - Saved this to draft and can now report that I have an interview on Tuesday with a very musical business indeed, as a Senior Developer - no it's not Spotify or anything like that and it may result in nothing because so far that's been the story through and through.
