Semana Santa
El Nazareno de San Pablo es una talla de madera, realizada por el escultor Felipe Ribas esculpida en Sevilla en el Siglo XVII es una representación de Jesús cargando la cruz. Con una túnica morada y con una corona de espina es traída a Caracas, fue venerada por primera vez en la Iglesia San Pablo el Ermitaño de ahí viene su nombre. Cuenta la leyenda que por los años de 1696, azoto una epidemia de peste negra y por la devoción que los feligreses le profesaban a la imagen, la sacaron en procesión y al pasar por un huerto cerca del templo sembrado de limones, sus ramas se enredaron en la cruz del nazareno cayendo algunos limones al suelo. Los devotos recogieron estos limones creyendo que era una señal del Nazareno que les envió como cura a la enfermedad que azotaba al pueblo, comenzaron a chupárselos, dieron como medicina a sus enfermos quienes se recuperaron rápidamente. La imagen del Nazareno fue consagrada en julio de 1674.
Uno de los días más importante de la semana Santa es el miércoles santo, un día sagrado para muchos feligreses que desbordan la Basílica de Santa Teresa y las calles para adorar al limonero del Señor, vienen a cumplir sus promesas, desde muy tempranas horas, estos miles de devotos se congregan a las puerta de la basílica, vestidos con sus túnicas moradas como símbolo religioso esperan pacientemente en largas colas para entrar a la Iglesia, ahí lo veneran, le dan gracias por los favores recibidos y le obsequian orquídeas moradas, rosarios e infinidades de objetos religiosos. Otros que vienen por primera vez le imploran y lloran por su intercepción en un milagro que les resuelva tal situación, la fe lo mueve todo.
En esta tradición los devotos que acuden en Semana Santa participan en todas la ceremonias religiosas, los mueve la Fe en el Nazareno de San Pablo, vienen de Caracas, de otros estados y también de otros países, en la procesión la mayoría de las personas o feligreses se presentan con atuendos de color morado, asisten a la peregrinación descalzos, cargando la cruz o cumpliendo alguna penitencia que le prometieron cuando solicitaron su intercesión.
Para estos días La Cofradía encargada de resguardar al Nazareno lo preparan y decoran con orquídeas, aproximadamente 5000 orquídeas para sus arreglos que son cultivadas y posteriormente donadas por sus seguidores.
Con la llegada de la pandemia hace dos años se suspendieron los actos religiosos para el público, luego el año pasado, el miércoles santo fue sacado en el papa móvil y recorrió todos los sectores de Caracas para que los feligreses lo pudieran venerar convirtiéndose este acto muy emotivo. Para este nuevo año todo vuelve a la normalidad, tomando en cuenta las medidas de bioseguridad.

Holy Week

One of the most important days of Holy Week is Holy Wednesday, a sacred day for many parishioners who overflow the Basilica of Santa Teresa and the streets to worship the lemon tree of the Lord, they come to fulfill their promises, from very early hours, these Thousands of devotees congregate at the door of the basilica, dressed in their purple robes as a religious symbol, waiting patiently in long queues to enter the Church, there they venerate him, give him thanks for the favors received and give him purple orchids, rosaries and countless religious objects. Others who come for the first time implore him and cry for his interception in a miracle that resolves such a situation for them, faith moves everything.
In this tradition, the devotees who come during Holy Week participate in all the religious ceremonies, they are moved by Faith in the Nazarene of San Pablo, they come from Caracas, from other states and also from other countries, in the procession the majority of the people or Parishioners present themselves in purple attire, attend the pilgrimage barefoot, carrying the cross or fulfilling some penance that they were promised when they requested his intercession.
For these days, the Brotherhood in charge of protecting the Nazarene prepares and decorates him with orchids, approximately 5,000 orchids for his arrangements that are cultivated and later donated by his followers.
With the arrival of the pandemic two years ago, religious acts for the public were suspended, then last year, Holy Wednesday was taken out in the mobile pope and toured all sectors of Caracas so that parishioners could venerate him, this act becoming very emotional. For this new year everything returns to normal, taking into account biosecurity measures.
