May in Buenos Aires is the heart of autumn. The ochre colors of the season are what I see from my window every morning when I wake up. However, two days ago we awoke to a fog. The sun is behind it, though these days it's impossible to see. My cat Amelie usually sunbathes on the windowsill every morning, but today she won't be able to. Nevertheless, she comes over and observes, somewhat disappointed, the cloudy landscape.
Mayo en Buenos Aires es plena época de otoño. Los colores ocres de la estación son los que veo desde mi ventana al despertar cada mañana. Sin embargo, hace dos días amanecemos inmersos en la niebla. Detrás de ella está el sol, aunque por estos días no logra verse. Mi gata Amelié suele tomar el sol en la ventana cada mañana, pero hoy no podrá hacerlo. De todos modos, se acerca y observa, algo desilusionada, el paisaje nublado.
These are some of the pictures I took with my camera from the window. Thanks to the zoom, I can appreciate the treetops. The strange thing is that I can't see beyond them, because everything is covered by fog.
Estas son algunas de las imágenes que tomé con mi cámara desde la ventana. Gracias al zoom puedo apreciar las copas de los árboles. Lo extraño es que no logro ver más allá, porque todo está cubierto por la niebla.
The closer I zoom in, the more I feel like I could touch the treetops. It's as if the camera is giving me the illusion of being inside the foliage, surrounded by greens and ochres that blend with the fog.
Cuanto más me acerco con el zoom, siento que pudiera tocar las copas de los árboles. Es como si la cámara me regalara la ilusión de estar dentro del follaje, rodeado de verdes y ocres que se mezclan con la niebla.
I step back again and manage to capture a bit more of the surrounding trees, although everything remains shrouded in mist. The silhouette of the landscape is barely discernible, adding to its mystery.
Me vuelvo a alejar y logro captar un poco más del entorno de los árboles, aunque todo permanece inmerso en la niebla. La silueta del paisaje apenas se insinúa, y lo vuelve misterioso.
After a while, the mist dissipated, the sun came out, and the landscape changed completely. My inner landscape also transformed, and Amélie was finally able to enjoy some sunshine.
Al rato la niebla se disipó, el sol salió y el paisaje cambió por completo. También se transformó mi paisaje interior, y Amelié pudo disfrutar al fin de un poco de sol.
