Decades after decades society sold to young people a secret formula to become successful
Work hard~Get a good grade~go to university~
And the success will eventually follow now success in this context consists of a good job, a house and a comfortable life(family).
Was this formula wrong, definitely not this was once the pathway to migrate from the lower class to the middle class but due to shift and rapidly changing global economy the formula has been changed as today graduate armed with degree and ambition are released to the world with lots of unknowns
Degree that was once seen as. The Golden ticket that opens the door to greatness and opportunities is now a fallacy and a ticket to frustration as the job market is overly saturated.
Tech which was once as the dream career is tightening up as multinational giants like Google meta are now laying workers off in their thousands and even startups are struggling to survive
The public sector that is stable is now suffering seriously from underfunding and stagnant wages professionals like teachers, nurses and civil servants are overworked and underpaid.
Today's graduates are more educated better informed and has unlimited access to information and tools and are also very creative but in a world of few guarantees home ownership is out of reach for many, income can't keep up with expenses.
But in all of these the good news is that in the face of all these people are adapting side hustle, freelancing, content creation and others
The truth is today's graduates did everything they are told to do but were not rewarded.
Therefore the new rule for young people isn’t go to school, get a job, be happy.
It’s now adapt fast stay flexible and never believe the system has your back because it doesn't at the end of the day you all alone no one got your back.
In 2025 being a graduate means being screwed unless you learn how to rewrite the rules yourself.
