Over the past couple years I have been on a journey to keep creativity in my life. I think it is super important as a means of mental and spiritual growth.
You can get lost in creating and it is so good for your wellbeing!
So I signed up for a couple challenges this week.
One is a basics course for learning how letters are formed out of just a handful of basic strokes.
The other is a little more exciting as it is about style. Finding your own style!
This is my baseline. The point from which I will attempt to add flourish and excitement!
That was day one.
Day 2, yesterday, was to come up with two opposing words that both apply to your personality, but make them look different and possibly in that voice.
So I chose 'confident' but also 'concerned'.
You can see that for some reason I am apt to slant my 'O' no matter what the rest of the word is doing! haha
My plan was to make a big confident word that took up a lot of space. I find it is not as bold as my downstrokes can only be so wide with the nib I was using (a Nikko G).
On the other hand, I am always concerned. Tight and reserved and cautious.
I managed the vibe of that one a little better but I think my style tends to be tighter anyway, so it was more natural.
So today will be day 3 of this calligraphy style challenge. I'm not sure what the exercise will be (Pacific time challenge for an East Coast girl), but I am always excited to have that push to be creative and work my mind and spirit!
You can follow along with this is you're into it...I'll post my results of each day and you can maybe try it yourself!
