Hi, everyone! First of all, Happy New Year!
Is it just me or the New Year season really gives this motivational vibe? Haha. I literally feel like I am a much better person now than I was a few days ago, which is a good thing! I just hope that this feeling will continue the entire year. Haha!
One of the things I've been practicing for around 4 or 5 years now is having a Word of the Year. Instead of choosing one for myself, I generate it through Dayspring. This way, it becomes less biased.
What I like about Dayspring's Word of the Year generator is that it is not entirely given randomly. You need to answer a set of questions first!
I know that people have difference opinions or beliefs when it comes to things like this. But I personally like having one because when tough times arise during the year, I have a word to look back to.
For some reason, my past words of the year actually became a reflection or guide for my past years.
2021: OVERCOME. This was the year when I had to overcome a lot of things. It was when my mental health was most unstable; household toxicity and problems were at its height; I lost motivation in a lot of things, including the ones I looove doing; and the year when I detached myself from so many people.
2022: EMPOWERED. I started getting serious with crocheting this year. I started accepting commissions and even wrote my own patterns. Yep, not just 1 or 2, but I think around 5 or 6 patterns in a span of 6 months! Sooo crazy, but those things really made me feel empowered.
2023: CONFIDENCE. Oh, gosh. Where will I even start? This year, I definitely needed confidence in the decisions I made and opportunities I took! I left my full-time job as a preschool teacher and blindly dove into the world of freelancing as an artist-slash-teacher. I joined a bazaar; collaborated with a brand; accepted big projects; facilitated workshops; and many more! A year of change; of shifting; of growth.
And now, for 2024, I once again generated my word of the year, and this was the result...
I still yet to know the meaning of this word for my year, but I am sure it will be a great one. I am claiming it! š
How about you? Do you have a Word of the Year, too?
Stay sane and safe!
Let's spread happiness.
