Today is a very windy day. It started at 6am whilst I was sleeping out on the sofabed under the olive trees because we had volunteers turn up and I told them they could sleep inside the truck Im staying in. Its calmed down yesterday but then started again at 1am last night and prevent me from falling asleep, or I might have slept some and then woke up, I'm not sure.
Life on a dusty riverbed is already very dusty, but when gale force winds blow up the river, its even worse. I remember we used to have weeks of never ending wind here and it used to get frustrating! I guess as its already started so I guess we will most likely have a week atleast of hardcore gusts.
How it looked outside the truck after being wind battered
The two young volunteers are cool, its funny though when people come to volunteer at a place with no comforts or convinences, no running water and just solar power. I think its great that people try it out because then the seed has been sewn in the head.
It will either make them become so thankful for being a slave life exchanging time for convieniences and comforts, or (how I try to direct them to) show them how we live more or less entirely out of the system.
I already started before they woke up and was sorting out the garden shed. Im not sure why but under the table top there is a dead goat, but its just the skeleton and wool to remaining.
Weird Right?!
I also put aside some plants that need repotting, like these 3 cucumber plants that I found outside in a group of potted plants.
..and this plant, of which I'm not sure the type (I didnt taste it to find out)..
I tied up a cucumber plant that had grown a lot the last days, and added some tomato plants in with it from a bucket of tomate plants bunched together.
The helpers went and got some dry grass which I used to cover the garden. It gets full sunlight here and without covering the soil, any water gets evaporated too quickly.
We have just finished changing the kitchen table with the garden shed table, and now the kitchen is very spacious.
..and now how the garden shed which used to be the kitchen looks.
The washing up area also got a good tidy up from the helpers and I also trimmed an over hanging olive tree in the lounge area to make more space and also to stop getting my hair turned into an afro whilst walking around 🤣
A lot got done today, and I wonder what my mate will say and also if he thinks its progress or if its not Punky enough now, first generation english punks are a dying generation! He said he has plans to make a porch from his caravan over the entrance, a shower and other things too.
Later today, we need to repair a fence around the veggy plot because the wind moved it, and collect more straw to use to cover soil with.
Well, I cant sit around looking at a screen when there stuff to do 😉 theres clouds in the sky and its 6pm, perfect time to do stuff in summer in south Spain!
The wine I started on 19th May is looking good as well, I found today these wine things which have a real name but I cant remember what its called.
Have a great day!
