I have quite a few Phalaenopsis orchid. Nothing fancy, no species. Most were gifted to me or given to be rescued and they just stayed. And I like them all!
But this one here is my most favourite of that type.
Phalaenopsis Sogo Twilight Rainbow
It is still nothing fancy. Just another hybrid sold in supermarkets and flower shops. But it is not as common as other and the one I have here was the only one I ever saw in a shop. Of course I grabbed it right away and put it my shopping basked.
The flowers on this one are much smaller than on the regulars Phalaenopsis orchids. About half the size I'd say. It look more like those tiny miniatures that are also available in shops. The shape is closer to few of the specie orchids that are probably somewhere in the parentage. They don't have those large, round petals, but more narrow. Also the lip (the bottom, purple part) is larger. If you want google Phalaenopsis equestris - see the resemblance?
The plant itself it huge! The leaves are large, wide and dark green like from the largest hybrids. The flower spike also grows pretty long and what I like the most it the abundance of flowers!
Not only there is lots of them, but the spike can branch out, which also doesn't happen often with the bigger Phalaenopsis.
