I have never seen this dog before. I did a similar job once for my friend. His neighbors wanted to do this. Their dog went for a walk in the heavenly meadows. And this is a gift in memory of that dog.
I managed to find one of the old sections of the growth on the birch. He had an irregular oval shape. Such growths are called "suvel".
At my disposal were several photos from a smartphone of low resolution and rather poor quality. Processing in Photoshop one of them gave a more or less satisfactory result.
I carried out the entire bas-relief with the help of different burs and cutters. Then he applied several colors of stains, linseed oil and wax.
It was with this bas-relief that I met with the customer at the metro station yesterday.

Вот с этим барельефом я вчера и встречался на станции метро с заказчиком.
