Adios Steem
This now makes the 4th day I have sat here, right here, trying to write this post. It seems a simple celebration of being done with Steem, but I’m so done I have really nothing left to write.
As of Friday afternoon I have taken the last little bit that I’m going to get out of Steem. It was a good run and a good place for a while, right up until it wasn’t.
I’m not going to rehash the circumstances that led to my decision to abandon Steem entirely, you all know what that was. Once I’d decided to renounce the place it took me 17 weeks to get it all out. A 13 and a 4 week powerdown.
I’ve done better than normal on the trades of Steem to Hive. I’m sitting right at 130% of my highest Steem total after 6 months of Hive. To me it seems a screaming good deal.
The King is Dead! Long Live the King!
It’s all Hive, all the time for me now. I’m comfortable with the platform and just love the people I meet here. I have zero regrets.
I need to remember that The King May Be Dead but it really has no impact on me. I’m a freeholder, not a subject. What I do here is entirely on me, no ‘boss’ to pass judgement or parcel out what he deems fit. It’s my business and my responsibility and no one has any control over me or my actions. It is pure freedom.
The only limits to my freedom are the ones I impose in order to draw ever closer to my goals and aspirations.
I may be free but I have rights and responsibilities here. I have the right to say whatever I wish, balanced by the responsibility to my fellow Hivians to treat them as I would like to be treated in the same circumstance.
It’s all about courtesy, after all. Common courtesy and blockchain courtesy. You will catch a lot more flies with honey than vinegar. It’s incumbent on me, and only on me, to chart my path and make adjustments as needed. I can follow the path that others have taken to success, but it’s MY path. Means that the result is mine, also. Good or Bad.
The engagement level seems way up to me, but the numbers don’t exactly bear that out. Engagement is up, yes, but not WAY up. It seems that the engagement renaissance that I am experiencing is all about my numbers being up.
Yep. I have taken a considered path to more engagement. More comments, more replies, more interaction. In doing so I’ve met a gob of new people that I truly enjoy. Some seriously good writers and some seriously good interactors.
