Winter time where I live can be pretty harsh. It isn't uncommon for the temperatures to drop into the -20 to -30 (F) range when the polar vortex has a harsh wind blowing from the North.
While Winter sporting opportunities like snowmobiling, ice fishing, and skiing are abundant in Michigan, this also means that a lot of people just stay inside as much as possible and try to stay warm.
It is this time of year that I find it hardest to find things to write about on Steemit. Camping season is still a couple months away for us and the idea of traveling and trying new experiences or places to eat is usually put on hold because of the weather and the hazardous roads.
This particular Winter so far has been rather mild for us. Not so much that we have been able to buck the trend and spend a significant amount of time outside the house. Like the past several Winters before this one, it means that I am quite honestly running out of things to write about.
So here is my question...
If you know you have some autovotes coming your way, what do you do if you have nothing to say?
Do you not post and let those votes go to waste? Do you post anyway knowing that some people might consider it a crap post, but hope that there is maybe a orca or whale that can relate to how you are feeling and give it some love? Do you have a "grab bag" of topics sitting on stand-by that you can reach into and come up with something passable?
Even though I take a break on the weekends from Steem, there is something about not posting once a day through the week that really drives me nuts. I feel like it is necessary to at least get something out there. What if I don't and people lose interest? What if they think I am not committed because I skipped a day and my followers start leaving in droves?
When is it okay to just not post?
My other fear is, what if it is a slippery slope?
What if not having anything to post about one day turns into two? Three? Four? What if lack of material leads to lack of motivation? Then were do we end up? Part of the long list of users that have given up and abandoned their accounts? I personally can't see that happening to me, but who knows... What if?
What do you think? What are some strategies you have in place for the "times of least inspiration"?
Hit me up with some comments, maybe it will give me something to write about!
