Rime Ice
frozen fog
whitened my world -
made me look twice
Hielo escarcha
niebla helada
blanqueó mi mundo -
me hizo mirar dos veces
Firecrackers
frosty fingertips
reach for the sun-
Don't be like Icarus!
Petardos
yemas de los dedos heladas
alcanzar el sol
¡No seas como Ícaro!
Snowballs
Snow, he loves, but
it sticks to his paws--owie,
come help me, mommy
Christmas lights
Twinkling lights above the hearth
cannot outshine
snowflakes sticking to my door
Thank you,
,
for hosting another haiku contest! This one is especially fun (and timely) for me.
I needed the diversion. My New Year started out well but Day 5, I fell down the Rabbit Hole, chasing down more useless leads on my sister's cold case. November 28, 1975 - we just passed the 45th anniversary of her murder! - and I was actually working on my fiction instead of looking at Persons of Interest now living in a tropical paradise, posting links to charitable causes (save the tortoise, save the local dogs and cats, save the people who've lost their livelihoods to the pandemic), and....yeah. I keep listening to that 1973 classic by Yes, "All Good People."
Never mind how many evil souls are masquerading as "Good People."
Thank you again for this:
