I take you to a secret swimming hole that I call...
Flying Man!!
The summers here in Southern California can get really HOT! When it does, one of my favorite things to do is head up into the local mountains to one of the many natural swimming holes. There is really no shortage of awesome spots to choose from. Some can be popular party spots full of people and all their trash, but others are almost completely unknown and probably only see a handful of people each summer. Flying Man is one of those hidden gems.
About six or seven years ago I was camping out for a few days on the creek. I had been enjoying the usual swim holes, but I decided to do some exploring and see if I could find anymore cool spots... and I'm so glad I did! It took quite a bit of exploring, but when I found it... it was all more than worth it! With an examination of the pool and the surrounding cliffs... I knew I had just found a new cliff jumping paradise! After a few more trips where I brought some friends along to jump the cliffs with me... we decided the appropriate name would be FLYING MAN!
Fast forward to this summer... me and a few buddies of mine spent a couple weekends camping up there for my birthday. And as usual we had a blast swimming and cliff jumping!! I even jumped a new spot that I've never jumped before. And I'm guessing it's probably almost 60 feet high! We also did some fishing and caught a few trout, but what we mostly saw swimming around was a bunch of huge tadpoles. Probably the biggest I've ever seen... hundreds and hundreds of them! The weather was perfect and we all just "cowboy camped" on the beach just above the pool. It was an all around great time... can't beat it really.
