Greetings, everyone
There have been tons of stories about animals being spotted in urban areas around the world as a result of the covid-19-induced quarantine. Now that human activity was drastically reduced in some urban areas, animals like coyotes, bears, deers, mountain lions, and many others have been seen roaming around the streets of Madrid, France, Rome, or Santiago.
There have been reports of sharks, whales, and even whale sharks swimming around our waters. These animals are very rare in the Venezuelan coasts. In my town, we might be experiencing some of that. Our river Manzanares looks cleaner, now that because of the gasoline crises we have less boats navigating it. We have some beautiful white herons visiting us regularly. These fellows have been pushed from their natural environments by the pollution and irresponsible urban developments sponsored by a very negligent government that presents itself to the world as a champion of enviromentalism.
Their visits predate the quarantine, though. Hopefully, the kids or hungry folks will leave them alone and allow them to feed from the gutters. There are plenty of little fish for them there.
I guess we can see the bright side of the horrible state of our streets. At least these creature have an extension of their habitats in lands that were probably like this before we started building houses and and streets.
You can see one of them here enjoying the fish.
