On a whim this morning, I stopped by The ShitCoin Kingdom. Never heard of it? It's the Discord Channel run by your favorite naughty witness, @Klye.
Upon entering, I was greeted with an entry screen requesting I verify my date of birth. As a father, this isn't something that bothers me.
Despite the fact my kids probably consume content worse than you'll find in The ShitCoinKingdom, it's good to know they won't be over there seeing anything I write. 🤣🤣
It Got Me To Thinking
All the birthdays in my immediate family are approaching fast. Does anyone else have a family where all the birthdays happen at once? Or, like ours, all within a twenty day time period?
My birthday comes first at the end of this month, October. Next comes our youngest sons' at the beginning of November.
A week after that, our oldest son celebrates his birthday. And bringing up the pack is my wife. Her Bday comes exactly one week after our oldest son's.
How Do You Deal With It All?
I have friends that have birthdays on Christmas and the 4th of July. Another has a Birthday in February, and gets cheated out of his date every four years? I can't remember how it works....but something like that. Or he only gets a Birthday once every four years.
Looking at the dates some birthdays fall on, I suppose we could have it much worse. Do you give your kid Birthday Presents and Christmas Presents if they were born on December 25th?
In a way, we actually have it easier. We can plan on all these birthdays in advance, then get them all done in a month. We have a whole 11 months before they roll around again.
Straight Into The Holidays
This is the part of the timing of our Scorpio family that can be a challenge. Once our four Birthdays pass by, we go right into Thanksgiving. Another short month after that comes Christmas. If XMas fell in the 5th of December, we'd really be in trouble.
To answer the question of Birthdays on Xmas, my old next door neighbor growing up had that exact date. And YES, his parents doubled up on his presents that day. No matter how much our parents got us for Christmas, it never compared to his haul!
Kids like to compare things, don't you know?
A Week Before New Years & We're Done!
I can't remember staying up until midnight to celebrating the start of the New Year for several years past. And I don't even drink anymore!
By the time New Years Eve comes around, I'm usually over the holidays. Ready to move on into the next year with months before the madness returns.
It's going to be hard interesting to see how the holidays unfold as far as shopping goes this year. I hope the internet is prepared, cause it's gonna see some TRAFFIC! The kind of traffic that gives a whole new meaning to the term, "Going Viral".
It's Better Than The Alternative
As my mom likes to say about her Birthdays with each passing year, "having one is better than the alternative". With birthdays, you can be positive about it or negative. They don't offer much grey area in-between.
If I'm looking for a gray area on my birthday, all I really have to do is look in the mirror! Birthdays aren't that much fun if we focus on the negative.
For that reason, I no longer view my own birthday as a day for me to celebrate. Rather, it's a day for family and friends to show their appreciation of my life. It's not cool to not allow them that pleasure.
What Should We Do For Our Kids This Year?
My wife brought this up this morning and I'm not sure what we are going to do. Last year we went to a fun center with video games and go-carts. I'm not certain that will even be a possibility this year.
We could maybe have a party here at our home. It would need to be a small group of friends and family, and perhaps be setup outside? Idk. If you have any ideas, I'd like to hear them.
Whatever we do end up doing, it's all coming in a hurry and it'll be over with just as fast.
Thanks for reading and as always...
