“As wave is driven by wave
And each, pursued, pursues the wave ahead,
So time flies on and follows, flies, and follows,
Always, for ever and new. What was before
Is left behind; what never was is now;
And every passing moment is renewed.”

❤❤ HAPPY THURSDAY ❤❤
One of the best parts about getting away and out of the city, is that it forces you to just "stop". It is almost as if time stands still in the country. When you are at home and in your regular environment, you are almost habitually compelled to do this and do that! Even when there is nothing for you to do - you will somehow FIND something to do.
We seem to live in this repetitive cycle of never ending activity - but when you remove yourself from that environment, everything changes. Suddenly there is absolutely nothing to do besides RELAX and absorb your surroundings. Everything slows down and often you will find that you are quite fatigued and in need of rest until your body manages to slow down to the same pace as the environment you are now in.
This is one of the reasons why I love going to visit my dad. Even though it is only a 90 minute drive out of town it really is like entering another world. It is just so beautifully peaceful there and I love how all the chaos of my daily life fades to the background and all the simple things are suddenly foreground... There is time to play games, sit around the fire, read a book, jump in the pool, have a nap.... enjoy rambling conversations about nothing of consequence, and lets not forget write :)
While you'll feel compelled to charge forward it's often a gentle step back that will reveal to you where you and what you truly seek.” ― Rasheed Ogunlaru
There is something so special about taking time out to appreciate the little things in life... all the details that we so often don't even notice when we are operating on fast forward. Whilst I do love our home, and I love spending quiet time in my own space too, I have to say that I am quite envious of those that get to live in environments that offer more "stillness". There is a beauty, richness and quality of lifestyle that is simply lacking in cities.
The only real problem however, is that the time we spend here is never long enough. You actually need more than a few days just to adapt to the pace of the environment and then several more, to truly appreciate everything it has to offer you. But, either way - even a "little" bit of time here is magnificent as it does wonders for the mind, body and soul.
“I live to enjoy life by the littlest things, feeling the grass between my toes, breathing fresh air, watching the wind sway the trees, enjoying the company of loved ones, a deep conversation, getting lost in a good book, going for a walk in nature, watching my kids grow up. Just the feeling itself of being alive, the absolute amazing fact that we are here right now, breathing, thinking, doing.” ― Marigold Wellington
