Lustrous Red In Keeping With Hot Days
Radiant flamboyant trees (Royal Poinciana trees - Delonix regia) with a broad-spreading, umbrella-like canopy of lacy, feathery green leaves gives an explosion of yellow, orange, red flowers to delight during summer.
Sitting quietly enjoying the afternoon breeze coming up through the valley from the sea, or out walking a tree offering shade with blooms nudging your visual senses to summer festive season (now drawing to a close), showy vibrant paradise flowers reminding you the heat has been turned up for the next few months.
During sizzling hot days the dazzling blazing blooms fall leaving a sensational lush carpet of red on green.
Smooth grey bark our Southern Tree Agamas (English: Blue-headed lizards/Acanthocercus atricollis - Afrikaans: Bloukoppie/Bloukappie) postpone searching for food, a dominant male in his bright blue breeding colour decides it's time to worship the sun, moving up following the sun, keeping an eye open to impress any females around. You won't see the ladies often, perfectly camouflaged against the bark.
Flamboyant trees decorate the pavements and gardens locally, crowning glory during summer months, mesmerizing brazen red amid gentle soft green against the piercing blue Durban sky.
Summer arrives feeling like a hot wet blanket has been thrown over you every time you venture outside, thank goodness for shaded areas where we are able to scuttle hiding away from the sun. Lizards are cold blooded animals soaking up the heat, we turn red, see red, tempers range on degree of heat, we moan and groan wishing it was over, all except the enchanting natural beauty that is out in nature. Nature manages to keep it's cool, and ours most days.
Clouds start rolling in, don't hold your breath sometimes they disappear, on occasion with great passion loaded electrical charge we are due for one soon with hot days of late.
