Greetings, friends!
Last week I shared a post about one of the village gardens of my grandparents. The post is Here. And I promised to peek inside the house later:
Next time I intend to show you some of the interior of a house where three generations at least have lived before me.
Now is that next time, so...
Come on, let's go in, it won't be long at all!
The contains of an old buffet that has become the symbolic piece of furniture for the living room in that house. It gathered people during winter celebrations. Come to think of it, butchering a pig was such an occasion. It's a large animal and there were always helpers at such times. Neighbors or other guests to partake in the feast consisting of some fresh meat or fat, and red wine. Lots of red wine. Lemonade, too.
Noisy occasions, those. Not happening anymore for at least twenty-five years. The great-grandparents who used to live there are no longer among us. But they did reach ninety years of age, each.
Mostly ghosts form the past in that mirror now. Coats used to hang below it. This was the Entry room, or "Antre", coming from the French "Entrée".
Close-ups of the two huge radio boxes, one in the living room (that also functioned as a bedroom), another one in the master bedroom (functioning as a guest room, actually). Oddly enough, my great-grandparents used to sleep in the smaller, south-looking dining room where the largest old-school oven was. Vulcan. No longer there.
But a... smaller top-loaded heater still stands in its place.
THat's some massive frontal grilled lid or...I don't know what I should call it. It's also an emblem.
The Cupboard with the favorite old-school sticker from our childhood years...
The inscription translates as "Do not do as they do in order to avoid Ouch! and Argh!" But it also rhymes.
The last marvels I am going to share in this post are the painted patterns on the walls which I assume were made by some bas relief upon roller paintbrushes which used more saturated colors than the background paint.
Semi-camouflaged light-switch.
Well, now I know I had no equipment to shoot the rooms as they were or...maybe no desire, also. So I am going with shots of details only. But I hope those details were interesting to you.
Thanks for coming with me!
Yours,
Manol
